Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

It had been one of those weeks where all of a sudden it felt like things had started snapping into place for Rey. Or at the very least, some things started making sense. That one Kylo Ren conversation did still bother her, too, when she wasn't busy enough to have her guard up, so she was staying busy and trying to focus more. Maybe push herself a little.

Which was why she was running through Form IV on a flat portion of the obstacle course so she could practice doing jumps off of it in the middle of the form. Which was actually going surprisingly well in that she hadn't broken anything yet.

Annie was feeling a little bit better by the time she made it to visit Rey today, though she was still shrouded in a hoodie and had a big, big bottle of water with her.

"That's impressive," she greeted Rey with a smile, saluting her with her water bottle.

"Thanks," Rey said, finishing off her move before looking over at her. "Are you all right?"

"Sangria with Summer last night," Annie explained with a regretful little wince. "I'll pull through." Though today was not a day she would ask to play on the obstacle course again, no. "How are you doing? Everything cool back home?"

"Ah. Been there." Though Rey's rule was that she had to be able to train the next day, dodged so far been able to rein herself in to just deal with a wine headache. "I'm good. And things are good there. It was a closer call than we thought, but so far everything's okay."

Oh, Rey, you and your responsibility. Annie had skipped her training and been a hungover teacher today. (Though, to be fair, it had been a very sangria-necessitating conversation.)

"How close a call?" Annie asked, concerned. Though if they hadn't found Ajan Kloss yet, then that was good.

"We had about a day's lead on them," Rey answered, shutting down the lightsaber. "The First Order got to Anoat and found nothing, they assumed we were just now going there and changed plans."

"And now they're just, like, not worried about where we did go?" Annie checked. "Oh, man, I hope that Supreme Leader asshole got all mad and threw big tantrum in all the trash. That'd be kinda great."

She hoped he stubbed his stupid toe on some junk, too! So there!

"Oh, they're still looking. And he's definitely mad." Which for Rey at least, was worrying in context.

"You know for sure?" Annie asked, because that was not great. Unless Rey was just confident thst this guy was mad because he was an immature jerk, which didn't exactly seem unlikely, either.

"I saw him. I'm definitely sure," Rey told her.

"Wait, he - did the thing? Are you okay?" Annie asked immediately, a hint of worry creeping back into her voice.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm fine," she said, brushing off any concern. "Not a big deal. I cut him off after maybe two minutes."

"Oh, good job, Rey," Annie said with an approving little (very little; ow wine headache) nod. "I hate he can do that, but good work. He's pissed, though?"

Good.

"Not bad," Anakin said with a smile.

[thatwaslucky]

"Thank you," she said, smiling. "I felt like pushing myself a little."

She'd leveled up pretty good and she knew it.

"This isn't just a little," Anakin said. "You're doing well."

[thatwaslucky]

"Thanks." Did she look pleased? Because she looked pleased. She wasn't even talking herself down about it for once. "It's been a week."

Not entirely good, not entirely bad, but she was headed in the right direction.

"A good week or just a week?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's has its highs and lows," she said, frowning as she shut down the lightsaber. "I talked to Kylo Ren."

"You did what now?" Anakin replied.

[thatwaslucky]

"He contacted me. I just wanted to see what he had to say." Which was a mistake, maybe? But not?

"Was it 'I've made several terrible mistakes and wish to turn away from the Dark Side'?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"We both shared the vision I had," Rey explained. "He followed us to Anoat, didn't find any sign of us, he thought we were just going there now and changed course."

[sith_happened]

Anakin let out a long breath. "Well, at least he misread the vision."

[thatwaslucky]

"Sort of," Rey said. "I think he was questioning it, and I let him believe I didn't know anything about it."
