Caritas- Tuesday

Today saw a big old shipment of red wine. Kitty didn't know why.

She'd also spent at least an hour trying to figure out what kind of red it was. The label just said "red," and when she called the company that she did not remember ordering from, they just told her, "Well, it's red."

By now Kitty was a little worried that it tasted like the color red.

Honestly, probably a third of the reason Rosa came in every Tuesday was the specials board.

"'It's just red'?" she asked.

Because she kind of had to.

"Obviously," said Rosa, because of course she did, what kind of question even was that.

Rosa eyed the bottle a little speculatively as Kitty poured it, tilting her head as if just the look of it would help.

And once it was poured, she considered the bouquet, the viscosity, the color again. Took a careful, considering sip.

"Well," she concluded, "that's a red alright."

Was it going to bother her that she couldn't be more specific than that?

Oh, it was going to drive her nuts.

But at least she'd be helping Kitty get through some of it, as she took another sip, and, brow furrowed, contemplated it deeply without even coming close to the start of a theory.

Needing another sip before she felt ready to answer that question, Rosa opened her mouth as if to say one thing, stopped, seemed to visibly change her mind, and tried a sip again. Her head tilted, considering a sway from a cabernet to a merlot, but as soon as she thought it, malbec started to tug at the corner of her brain without making any additional purchase.

"It's just red."

That...truly was the only answer.

"....no," said Rosa, albeit cautiously, because that was another perspective she hadn't considered and, while it seemed possible, that still didn't quite land there, either. "It's still like red wine, but just....in the most generic way possible."

Which really was an experience.
