Tisarwat's frustration with trying to control the ever-growing knot of headphone wires in the basement was finally ebbing, a little bit, once she realized that it could be an awful lot like plants, where you had to shear and prune it down a little bit to keep it contained, which she only thought of because her thoughts had been shifting an awful lot toward Basnaaid these past few days, of days in the gardens on Athoek Station, and how many hours she would spend just listening to her talk about the maintenence of the plants even though she herself did not feel any real interest in horticulture, but, Aatr's tits, did she enjoy listening to Basnaaid talk about horticulture all the same...

...she could go back now. See how Basnaaid was doing. Or any of her other friends there, Piat especially; Tisarwat had told her once that she'd grow to be as beautiful as her mother was, and surely, after this time, perhaps she had become even more so. And Tisarwat had intended to start putting together a plan for a return trip, but the whole thing with the wires had put that off and kept her busy all weekend.

But now, thanks to Basnaaid, Tisarwat felt it was under control for now, just a little trimming was all it needed, and she really didn't have many other obligations, she really was overdue for that trip.

She curled around her cup of tea at the counter as her mind wandered into all the possibilities, distracting her enough that she didn't even realize that all the songs on the stereo today were all about a certain topic until it got to the Nine Inch Nails one that was not being in the least bit subtle about it.

And now she was wondering if Breq had any of these songs in her playbook...
