Caritas- Tuesday

There were two reasons Kitty came to work tonight: because she wasn't sure if people would want/need someplace with a sanctuary spell, and because anyone who was out might want to stop in. In this town that meant it'd either be dead tonight or very busy.

Kitty hadn't run into anything between her house and the bar, but Tino called out, with some message about trolls? So he was apparently having a great day.

Caritas was open, but Kitty got it if you had other things to do today.

So.

Jessica had enough of the day. Completely and totally. And while she usually stayed away from Caritas on Tuesdays as Rosa frequented the place, Jessica made an exception as Rosa was out of town and her usual drinking buddy was off in San Diego.

Walking inside she brushed ash off her jacket and tried to push the memory of what she saw in those mirrors on Loon Drive aside and headed to the bar.

"Hey," she said in a distracted fashion. "Bourbon, please."

"Coming right up," Kitty said, grabbing a glass. "Have you been out long?"

"Long enough to see some freaky shit," Jessica said staring at the glass with great expectations. "Should have bailed yesterday like some others did."

[throughaphase]

But this was where the fun was!

"We're in for it, probably," Kitty said wryly as she slid over the full glass. "This doesn't feel like other times we've done this."

Jessica just gave Kitty a loooooong stare before picking up her drink and saying something.

"Well. That doesn't bode well."

[throughaphase]

"That's actually what I'm afraid of," Kitty admitted. "Maybe I should be drinking."

"I'll buy you one," Jessica offered jokingly. "Company is always appreciated."

...

"But I'll buy you one better than the paint stripper I usually drink."

[throughaphase]

"I appreciate that," Kitty laughed, grabbing a glass for herself. "I don't have much of a tolerance for paint stripper."

"It's an acquired taste," Jessica joked. "But I don't expect everyone to be at my level."

[throughaphase]

"I knew I should have spent more time in college," Kitty joked.

"I actually picked up my drinking skills after I dropped out of college," Jessica noted as she finished her drink. "Then again I wasn't much of a student. I did better in a temp job where I had few responsibilities."

And typically got fired after a few weeks.

"Some people do," Kitty said. "I ended up here after I dropped out."

"And became a business owner. And a got a family," Jessica said pushing her glass over for a refill. "Somehow I don't see that as something happening for me though."

[throughaphase]

"You never know," Kitty told her. "Life takes some funny turns sometimes."

Like how somewhere else she left a guy at the altar and became a pirate with knuckle tats.

And in another world, Jessica was an avenger wearing her first costume.

Which was horrible. So... Trade off?

"Yeah. Well. Those types of changes are probably easier than others."

"Maybe," Kitty said, refilling her glass. "Kinda depends if you want those kinds of chants, too."

Miguel had noticed the other people on Rosa's text, so just in case they hadn't all gotten through, he decided to drop by. He raised one hand in a wave at Kitty as he came up to the bar.

"Hey. Everything going okay so far?"

"So far. We'll see how the rest of the night goes," Kitty greeted him. She felt weirdly pessimistic about that today. And yesterday. "How are you doing?"

[what_the_shock]

"Eh." Miguel shrugged, a bit meh on the day himself. "Rosa texted; don't know if you got it. Thought I'd check in just in case."

[throughaphase]

"I did. She's probably lucky, honestly," Kitty admitted.

[what_the_shock]

"Probably," Miguel agreed. "Whatever this is, she's a bit safer back home. At least until she finds her own trouble," he added with a fond grin.

[throughaphase]

"She'll come back complaining and it'll be great," Kitty smiled.

[what_the_shock]

"Whatever happens, we should tell her it was an awesome fight," Miguel said. "With axes."

[throughaphase]

"We have to now," Kitty agreed. "And erase today's radio broadcast from the record."

"We'll just say we bribed the squirrels to leave it out," Miguel pointed out.
