Oh? What was that? Some other country's holiday that basically turned into just another excuse to drink in this country just so happen to fall on a Wednesday again? Oh noooo, what a shame, it looked like Summer would have to go all out on a theeeeme again, how traaaagic.

So. If you didn't know already, today was Cinco de Mayo, and Caritas was all decked out accordingly for the occasion.

But, you know, like, tastefully, or whatever, but Summer would also like to point out that her maternal surname was Sanchez, so she probably had just as much a claim for usurping Cinco de Mayo as she, a redhead named Smith, had for usurping St. Patrick's Day.

Also, it was literally just an excuse to party. You really didn't need to go any deeper than that.

Season 5. Gimme. Ohgod. Literally the day after Summer's fake birthday, which I feel should mean something, right? Right, guys?

1) It's also Dutch Liberation Day. I'M JUST SAYING.
2) 100% fate and birthday blessings.

Well, look who'd gotten off enough time off from work to not only manage to visit her boyfriend, but to also stay on-island long enough for freaking Cinco de Mayo jello shots?

She had also, thankfully, acquired normal clothes, so Annie was looking very much her normal self as she settled onto a barstool and laced her fingers under her chin expectantly.

It was Wednesday, and last week's shenanigans were over, and Lucifer was still concerned.

So look, he was calling again.

"... don't you dare send me to voicemail again," he muttered to his phone as he pressed the call button.

So first of all is Summer's fake 21st birthday on a SATURDAY? Like, amazing.

But also I did not know this and I literally just marked my calendar for season 5. Which means SEASON 4 REWATCH WHOOOOO.

1) DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A RED, WHITE, AND BLUE JELLO SHOT RECIPE THAT ISN'T JUST COMPLETELY SLATHERED IN AMERICANA??
2) I am now smarter and more worldly this morning, thank you internet!

I KNOW. I already looked into that, she could not be happier lol.

.....and I JUST looked up where it'll be airing and it's on HBO Max and so I just learned that I don't have to shell out extra money for whatever it was streaming on after all! NICE.

"Annie!"

No. No. Just sitting there at the bar looking all cute and shit was not going to cut it, Miss Big Time Superhero, because Summer, after that squeal when she saw her there, was not hesitating to launch herself up over the bar (sure, sure, she could always just go around, but where was the fun in that?) and straight up attack you with a hug.

You just did not show up and not get hugged, dammit!

"So there's a holiday I missed?" Seivarden asked, showing up early.

Should she mention last week or just ignore it as much as possible? She couldn't decide.

Oh, Lucifer. It wasn't like Summer was going to think her new phone was possessed by some weird island-created version of you! Even if the fact that you actually called people was still really weird to Summer and only reminded her of how incredibly super mega old you were.

"You do know that calling me during work hours is probably the worst time to call, right?" Summer said when she answered, by way of greeting.

She didn't sound too upset about it. It was just a multitasking kind of week!

"Only if you order them with a generic beer," Summer informed her.

What? Like she was going to deny chips to the mayor? Who was also her friend that she liked and also Summer sought value and validation through giving people things and so anything extra she was totally going to just jump on.

"I was going to call you earlier, but my phone fell in the water," Lucifer said. "Long story."

He cleared his throat.

"I take it you're doing better?"

Jesse laughed softly. "Okay," she said, "I'll have nachos and a beer, please."

"Two holidays!" said Summer, who was now infused with all the knowledge that brief internet searches could instil in a person. "Possibly even more! Who even knows? I'm sure Apu could give you a whole list of things that are celebrated today, but these are the big ones that are actually real and based on real shit and not just something I'm pretty sure he'd make up to sell more tortillas and, like, oranges or something."

There was a duffel over her shoulder and a smile on her face as Eleanor approached the bar. “Hola Amiga! Let’s round up one more round of Jell-O shots because there’s a greyhound bus with my name on it heading back to Arizona.”

"Oh," said Summer, apparently deciding to eschew the whole 'let's multitask while on the phone' thing by leaning comfortably on the bar with the phone cradled against her shoulder in what was clearly a sign to Tino that he was on his own for a little while, "you mean now that some weird fucking crystal-slash-vine thing isn't screwing with the whole island and making me feel super convinced that everyone just hates my fucking guts?"

More so than usual, anyway?

"Yeah. I'd say I'm doing better."

There was a pause, though, as him asking that seemed to at least clear up one more thing from last week.

"So that really was you that texted, huh?"

"Coming right up."

Which was very true, because it was not a complex order to put together and put in front of Jesse, like, at all, and once they were there, she asked, "So. Are we in a let's complain and bitch about how stupid last week was mode, or a let's just move on and forget about last week mode?"
