Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was running a little late to work today, so there wasn't really a good reason to walk into a bar that was empty of all employees. No Tino. No zombies, weirdly. (Where did zombies go? Did they have another gig? Like...) She checked her phone a couple times to see if she'd gotten any texts calling out, but nope.

Soooo she'd just work over here. In silence, apparently. Not weird at all.

"This is different," said Rosa, when she eventually made it in for her usual Tuesday night drinking, and when she finished looking around to confirm that it was just Kitty, she looked mildly impressed by the whole situation. "I like it."

She might feel bad about Kitty having to work by herself if it weren't for the fact that she was pretty sure Kitty could handle the Tuesday crowd.

"It's very weird," Kitty said, frowning. "I can't figure out where anyone is."

"Maybe Tino had a hot date."

Yeah, no, not even Rosa could say that one with a straight face.

But Kitty was right. It was pretty weird, wasn't it? And she looked around a little again as if half-expecting them to just show up now that it had been acknowledged.

"Might just be a thing," she offered. "Around here, it's hard to tell, but if it's consistent through the week, maybe there's something up."

And it was like the detective brain couldn't be switched off because she then had to ask, "Any clues as to what might have happened that you've noticed?"

"Nope. The zombies might have a band thing, I guess."

It did happen! They sold some CDs!

"Branching out a little?" Rosa asked. "Good for them. They could've let you know, though, if that was the case. Then you could have at least gotten a replacement for the night.

"....I know a good metal band that could probably get here on short notice..."

Hey. It was worth a try, right?

"Thanks, but I like my ears un-bleeding," Kitty teased.

"I swear," Rosa promised, "after a few minutes, you don't even notice the bleeding. It'll just congeal into natural earplugs."

She really knew how to sell it, huh?

"Oh, ewwww," Kitty told her.

"Says the woman with the zombie band," Rosa countered, regretting the comment not even a little, because the whole thing, she felt, was pretty metal. "Anyway, let me get a beer, and I'll just enjoy the silence."

She was pretty okay with that, too.

"Does that mean we also have to sit here in silence?" Kitty asked, going to get the beer. "Because I might go crazy that way."

"As much as I do like drinking in silence," said Rosa, "I think I think I can make an exception in your case, Kitty."

"Thank you. Sitting there not talking would not help the ambiance here," Kitty told her.

"So, what are we talking about?" Rosa asked. "Anything exciting going down in the life of Kitty Pryde-Barton?"

What? Did you think Rosa would elect to talk about herself??

"There's another person here from a different version of my world," Kitty said, thinking. "Mostly I'm just not doing anything for the summer."

Well. Relatively.

"Ugh." Rosa's lip curled a little. "I'm so glad no one from my world ever shows up."

Knowing her luck, it would probably be Hitchcock and Scully. Or Doug What's-His-Face. Or her ex who ate all the soup.

"Who is it this time?"

"Wanda. My version of her used to come to a Hanukkah thing I threw back home."

And also screwed over a whole lot of mutants, but Kitty had actually learned a thing about holding stuff against a different version of a person, thank you, Emma.

Yeah. Yeah. Definitely glad there was no bleed over from her world, although, to be fair, even if there was, her world was still a lot more...streamlined.

But going to a Hanukkah thing sounded good! Unless Kitty did it to torture Wanda like Rosa was pretty sure her family did for her and holiday crap.

"This one seem cool so far?" she asked, and if it sounded like it may have had an undercurrent of a promise to punch a face if the answer was anything but yes, well....
