"No, we don't have that one either," Seivarden said with a sigh, after having looked through the beer selection again.
"Really? You should, you know. That brewery is great and they're almost local. I tried their Halloween special edition and..."
"Who the fuck makes special editions of beer?"
Seivarden was getting really annoyed with Annoying Vinyl Hipster, who in addition to vinyl and old-fashioned photography had, unsurprisingly, turned out have an obsession with craft beer.
"I mean, most good breweries? Sometimes they go a bit wild, but there's this place in Grand Rapids, Michigan that makes durian and orange sour beer...."
Seivarden wrinkled her nose. "You put fruit in beer?" She made a gesture with her hand. "Not that I know anything about beer, but if you want something fruity I recommend the specials. They're... fruity."
AVH stared at her, possibly trying to decide whether this was a joke.
"It's not like it's tea we're talking about," Seivarden added.
"You like tea? I have a friend who imports tea from some really small Indian plantations, fairtrade, he visits the places regularly..." AVH began.
Seivarden, who normally would have jumped at the possibility to discuss tea, said: "Where I come from we have a whole planet of it. Although I admit there are quite good ones here too, if you stay away from the tea bags."
No one could beat a Radchaai at a tea discussion, especially not someone with Seivarden's background, and since Annoying Vinyl Hipster didn't manage to turn the conversation back to beer, he eventually ended up with a mai tai, after quite a few subtle insults that had apparently flown over his head.
"Sometimes you just have to accept that the world around you doesn't live up to your standards," Seivarden said sagely, mostly to shut him up.

Because, yes, she was going to have spent all that time heckling Seivarden over her bartending and then go ahead and be like that once she did start actually branching out.

"How are you, Amaya?"

"Kind of wishing I hadn't blasted through my last batch of projects as quick as I did," she admitted, although, really, she'd kind of been on a roll and it was kind of great! "But other than that? No complaints! How about yourself, Seivarden?
"And I'll take that. The mix. Do your fruity worst!"

handwaveytrip for a few basic things he needed for his new place, he passed by the bar and the sign out front caught his eye."A piece of my tropical home right here? You are speaking my language!" he said with a slight grin as he walked up to the bar. "I'll take one of those Mai Tai."

"I haven't seen you here before," she added, reaching for the shaker.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few bills and put them on the counter as he took a drink.
"After all, gotta be able to keep paying for delicious drinks like this" he said giving a smile and appreciative nod towards Seivarden.
