So the tree was back from its time outside, and Jaye was pretty sure there was a bird in it. Every once in a while she'd hear a noise, look at it warily, and then hear nothing for another 20 minutes.

"If anything flies out of there I'm leaving," Jaye announced to Tino. Just to get that on record.

Discounts were good! Even if you were a prince and had a royal allowance, but mostly because according to Dean Skywalker you could get a discount if you did jazz hands to the Caritas bartender on a Saturday night.

He turned to Guillermo and said quietly: "So how do we do this? Synchronised? Without announcing it?"

Then there were very enthusiastic jazz hands.

If this didn’t work they could totally blame Dean Skywalker for this right?

Probably not, but she had to try.

Steve hadn't been by to bother Jaye in a while, so here he was, in a hilariously puffy coat and a stupid hat with a pompom on it, still looking cold.

Jaye snapped the picture and set her phone down. "No reason. A bit nippy out there, is it?"

Like her classmates upthread, Vi recognised Jaye from the play yesterday.

Unlike her classmates upthread, Vi figured Jaye's reaction trying to get a discount by waving your hands about was going to be like Vander's would've been. So instead she tapped the bar. "Whatever's cheapest."
