Look, okay, seriously, Summer loved and appreciated bubblewrap just as much as the next person, there was no denying the absolutely cathartic effect that came with popping it, but she was still maybe mildly hung over from Saturday's sangria night, and so it did not take long for Apu's dedication to BubbleWrap Appreciation Day to start getting on her nerves just a touch.

"Isn't it maybe just a little antithetical," she pointed out, "to appreciate something by destroying it?"

Which just lead to a far too deep philosophical counterpoint about how the benefits of bubblewrap did not merely stop at its ability to protect goods and products, especially when in transport, but to the greater and much-more far-reaching properities as a stress-relief mechanism for the popping enthusiast.

"Well, it's not doing much for my stress relief right now!" she countered.

To which he merely...almost beatifically....just handed her a fresh, unpopped sheet, nodded knowingly, sagely, and wandered away.

Only a few pops later, Summer sighed. "Yeah, okay," she allowed, "maybe he's right on this one."

Who currently hates her own capitalist pig brain that is currently popping away and wondering if she could actually market this as a whole stress-relief program now.si

This was becoming something of a ritual but Goose was … well he was still confused about recent developments that seemed to have happened and now he was back for a third week since the next dinner wasn’t going to be at his place and well he’d gathered enough from last week that it was appropriate to bring something over but Goose really had no idea as to what.

He didn’t know if he should just stick with the wine theme but maybe there would be something else appropriate, he really had no idea about what he was doing for any of this …

So he was back at the store, still just as lost and awkward as the previous visits and hoping that he could figure something out.

Yeah, no, really, Summer just kind of assumed at this point that 'lost and awkward' was Goose's general default setting. Go on. Tell her she's wrong, though!

And it was because of that lost and awkward state that she didn't just immediately jump at him, demanding that he bring her good news via an update over how his whole date thing went last week, because if it was bad news, that was it, she was going to officially declare this island in a state of romantic emergency at this point and may have to initiate Protocol Scorched Earth, wherein she obviously had to dump Barry before he got the chance to even think about dumping her first, which she really didn't want to have to do, but so help her....

Anyway, she wanted to demand good news, but she didn't, instead opting for a much more neutral, "Hey, Goose! How's it gooooooing?" with that last word doing a lot of heavy lifting in the whole subtly suggesting that he just turn right back around if the answer was anything but GOOD right now.

Especially when it came to normal everyday things and feelings … yes, lost and awkward was pretty much Goose’s default setting.

“Hey Summer,” he nodded, unaware of the importance that this particular answer had right at this precise second, “er … things are … they’re good …. I think … I’m …” his voice trailed off, “I think they’re really good?” he tilted his head as he looked at her in confusion.

He really wasn’t sure how any of this had happened … but at the same time ... he quite liked how everything was happening as well.

There were enough pauses and ellipses in there that Summer couldn't help being mildly suspicious, especially since things right now seemed so volitile, and she eyed Goose skeptically.

"You...think they're really good?" she asked, because she was going to need you to do a little better than that right now, Gooseman!

“We’re having dinner again,” he finally revealed, blushing a bit as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, “I mean … Ignis and I,” that part was kind of obvious Goose, “he’s cooking at his place ...that’s…um… good right?”

He really had no idea what to do in these situations.

Summer's sigh of relief, the hand over her heart which could clearly not take this kind of edge-of-the-romance-apocalypse tension right now, probably made it seem like she was way too invested in the state of Ignis and Goose's relationship, but she did not care. "That is good," she confirmed gratefully. "That is very good, actually!"

They weren't entirely doomed based on her sample of exactly two points of tragic relationship data after all!

And now she could properly switch into dish mode, eyes brightening as she leaned in eagerly to gush out, "So things went well? I need updates, Goose! Details!"

Goose nodded, “it ..was nice, we talked, I didn’t set any fires,” he was quite proud of that achievement considering the amount of candles there had been.

Goose wondered if he should mention the pulled pork stain and that there was quite a long conversation about that but that was probably not the kind of detail she wanted right now.

There was a pause and, “he asked if he could call me Shane, I ..I said he could,” he stammered a bit and his blush deepened.

It didn’t seem like much but considering that Goose sometimes forgot that was in fact his actual name …

The salacious grin on Summer's face made it pretty clear that she was going to make a comment about starting different kinds of fires until the other part just made her look confused.

"Shane?"

Summer Smith: about to have her mind fucking blown that his name wasn't actually just Goose Gooseman.

(Look. One of her best friends was named Mr. Poopybutthole. As far as she was concerned, Goose Gooseman was a perfectly respectable and expected name for someone from space.)

(Also, let's not ignore that the dude he was seeing's name was literally just...'Fire Knolwedge.' Like, come on, people!)

“Shane,” he nodded, returning a grin of his own, “when I was …um …” oh this part was a bit more complicated than he thought because it got it into the whole Wolf Den story …

“Um …where I was born, the person who was looking after me, was a big fan of Westerns,” he revealed and then winced when he realised how clumsy that explanation still was.

Maybe Summer would be too focused on his name to ask about the rest of it?

Yeah, Summer definitely did not know Westerns enough to follow that one very well.

"So, what?" she asked. "Is it like a nickname or something?"

Goose nodded, “since I was a child and it just kind of stuck,” he paused and added a bit sheepishly, “half the time I forget that my name is actually Shane,”

Somehow he thought Summer wouldn’t be that surprised by that revelation.

Summer almost just wanted to reach up and pat Goose on the head for it, really, but she didn't want to bother putting in the effort to stretch, and also that would probably be weird.

But also, back to the whole reason they were even mentioning it...

"Ohmygod," she said, shaking her head. "I think I just got about a million cavities just hearing that."

Goose was definitely full on blushing now, "it's ... it was kind of strange at first but it's ... him ... I mean ... I like it?" he tried, which felt a weird thing to be saying about liking hearing someone call you by your actual name.

He wasn't used to actually dealing with any of these feelings at all.

Normally when Barry enters the T&C property he heads towards either the Oreos or the Kale chips. Today however he was heading to the laundry detergent and picking out a very large container of Tide before heading to the counter.

He was of course covered in green good including his favorite Space Battles t-shirt which should be self explanatory.

"Hey babe," he said as goo slipped down his hair into his collar. He nodded at the bubble wrap. "Anxious?"

Considering that the air was apparently rife with danger for couples right now, she probably shouldn't push it, but when was Summer Smith ever known for her sense of caution? Or self preservation?

"You do know you can change your clothes, or maybe even, I don't know, shower before you stop in," she asked, but, very dutifully, began to ring the purchase, "right?"

"Believe it or not? I already fucking showered," Barry said with a sigh. "I was experimenting on algae that can be used to provide alternative sources of fuel and the growth rate on this shit is fucking fast. The Tide should kill off the rest of it."

"I think," Summer proposed, "maybe you should put the alternative fuel stuff on pause for a bit until you can figure out a better showerhead, then."

But she grinned after, leaning forward a little on the counter.

"You do look good in green, though," she added sweetly.

"Well it's my fucking spring complexion," Barry joke as he carefully leaned in to snag a kiss, doing his best not to get any goo on his girlfriend. "Slimy and green are my go to's in fashion."

Since he was trying not to get goo on her and the fact that she was willing to tempt fate with snark but not with refusing kisses and the fact that she'd definitely had worse than algae in her mouth before, Summer was definitely going to let him take that kiss and even return it...a little...because also ew.

"And that," she noted, "is why I have to dress you half the time. Also, I guess I should thank you. Now that he's going to have to mop up after you, I might actually get to be spared from Apu and his bubblewrap for a whole five seconds."

"See? It's a fucking win-win," Barry joked and smirked a little at Apu. "Maybe when you're done with that you'll finally get around to cleaning the Squishy lines."

Apu did not look amused, and gave a pointed pop.

"He says," Summer noted, "he cleaned them yesterday.

Whether or not anyone actually believed it, however...

"I think he's full of shit but I can always test that statement later," Barry said as he noticed another blob of algae growing on his shoulder. "But I probably need to get back to the lab and get this algae shit back in order."

"Good luck," Summer said, with a smirk that seemed to think he'd need it. "Text me when you get it cleared up? I have a long day here for a community center class thing, and I have to get up suuuuuper early to get some more sangria ready before my class, but maybe I could find a few hours to squeeze in something else..."

And that smirk seemed to be thinking something very different now.

Oh, what's it? Is there an evening community center class that may or may not (spoiler alert!) be needing some T&C activity? Well, the place is open 24/7, after all! And why just mod when you can have an OCD? Summer might even decide to stick around for a little bit longer, too, even if she does have more sangria to make, oh-em-eff-gee.

Guillermo knew exactly what food he needed for his cooking and also some additional snacks as well. Maybe he did feel a bit guilty that he was definitely spending more than he normally would have but Dr. Lecter did say that he was covering the cost, obviously that meant it was okay if he spent just a bit more right?

Of course it was!

Hannibal wandered past and nodded. "Comfort means not having to cook?" he teased.

"Well it's sometimes fun having ready made snacks to go when you're watching movies," Guillermo admitted a bit sheepishly, "especially if its popcorn," he added.

"A classic." Hannibal smiled. "Do you eat more, or throw more at the screen?"

"It depends on the movie but I have thrown it at the screen before, that's what me and my friend back home did a lot of the time," Guillermo admitted, "we watched a lot of really bad b grade horror movies,"

Hannibal shook his head. "My husband adored those as well. I have to say, I'm bewildered by their appeal."

"Hey, Summer," said Astrid, who clearly had no problem picking out a few things, although she did sort of have to fight the urge to go light because Dr. Lecter was footing the bill...and then realized that she could use that to her advantage and veered sharply in the opposite way.

But maybe this would make up for it.

"Since I'm in the class, does that mean it can also be under my employee discount?"

On the one hand, Summer did appreciate Astrid making the attempt. On the other hand...

"Ten percent," she allowed, "maybe."

And only just because it was Dr Lecter, she was definitely all about doing him a solid.

"And everyone can totally have free Squishies, why not."

Even though that seemed directly counterintuitive to the idea of any sort of comfort food.
