Summer was having a very busy week, and the start of it was only the beginning, really, all the good stuff pretty much started tonight during her bar shift, and then would continue on through tomorrow for that much needed Galentine's Day spa date, and then whipping up a masterful array of jello shots (both SFW and NSFW!) for Irene's little party on Friday, and all that on her plate was exactly as Summer liked it, so she was just glowing and bouncing and honestly just so ready to gooooo, let's do this!

Of course, she had to deal with Tino and all that vodka, and then just blinked at him for a moment when he asked her a question he was still puzzling over after Kitty had asked it yesterday, that of course she had an answer to.

"Well, obviously," she said, helping him out by plucking one of the bottles out of his hand and going to get herself a glass, "Summer Watermelon means it's for me, thank you, don't mind if I do!"

Honestly, he should have expected that when he asked. Really, now.

When Goose came into the bar that evening, he read the specials, blinked and then realised the theme, "Oh Valentines Day is coming up isn't it?" he said, having managed to be completely oblivious to that these last few weeks, well more oblivious than normal anyway.

Someone wasn't prepared for Valentines Day at all no.

Summer, meanwhile, had definitely been mildly obsessed about it, because, okay, yeah, sure, this week had been fine and normal with no signs of impending romantic doom involved, but that could just mean that it was the calm before the storm, and she was still desperately trying to figure out whether she needed to mitigate an absolute disaster by pulling the trigger before someone else got the chance to...

...of course, this was all very internal and she felt she was doing an excellent job of keeping it so as she met Goose's comment with a grin and already started lining up shot for him, because, I mean, come on.

"This Monday," she confirmed, and then, a little wryly, "So I take it you don't currently have plans."

Was that something she should be worried about? Or was it just a sort of 'this holiday is a very area-specific holiday in the grand scheme of the multiverse' thing or perhhaps even a 'seriously, the beginning of February is probably the most awkward time to be entering in a new relashionship' sort of thing, because..yeaaah.....

“No…” Goose admitted as he sat the bar, he was definitely going to be there for all the shots tonight, “should I try making plans?” he tilted his head, he still didn’t really know how any of this was supposed to work.

Summer's eyes narrowed a little suspiciously as she finished setting out the shots, briefly wondering if that was w bad sign that he didn't know or if it was just simple Goose-related cluelessness.

Oh. Who was she kidding? It had to be the second one, right?

So she tilted her head thoughtfully at him instead before asking, "Well...do you want to make plans?"

It was totally Goose being clueless. He brought one of the shots closer as he considered, “it… I …yes…maybe it would be nice to do something?” he stammered a bit.

“I …well …we haven’t even talked about Valentine’s Day,” he admitted, “do I …er…do I just ask Ignis?” he really had no idea at all.

Okay, wow. So now Summer kind of wanted to officially take back every single time she'd accused Barry of being hopelessly clueless.

Well, okay, not every single time. She was pretty sure even Goose would know the meaning of--

--wait. Would he, though?

She actually wasn't sure, and she had that suspicious look on her face again as an idea started to formulate and she subtly began to pull out her phone from her pocket.

"Uhh, yeah," she said, giving him a soft but endeared laugh, "that is how it usually goes."

“Oh?” Goose blinked and downed one of the shots, “I’ve never actually…well done anything for Valentine’s Day before,” he said.

That part was really obvious Goose, “all of this is rather new,” he admitted.

And that part wasn't?

"Yeah," Summer laughed softly again, her attention dropping briefly to the phone in her hand as she pulled up her contacts and tapped out a quick text message. "I kinda got that impression. But it's not that much different than any other date, it's just got the added bonus of a bullshit corporate holiday attached to it to make it, like, extra romantic, or whatever, you know? It doesn't have to be anything big or special. I mean, it could, if you wanted it to, but that's, like, your perogative or whatever."

“So if I asked Ignis out for dinner that would be okay for Valentines Day, I mean dinner at a restaurant?” Goose wished he wasn’t so nervous about this, he’d been in shootouts that were more intense than asking someone out for dinner that happened to coincide with a romantic holiday.

He also had no idea about the text exchange going on right now or he’d be even more nervous.

"Oh, yeah," Summer assured Goose. "Totally. That's, like, Standard Basic Valentine's Day 101. Classic, really. You can go wrong."

A beat, as her phone vibrated in her hand and she idly glanced down at the response that would take a little more of her attention to read. Geez, Ignis, write a novel much?

"I mean," she allowed, "unless you chose, like, a fast food restaurant, or something, so I guess don't do that?"

And she'd managed to read and talk enough at the same time, so that now she was just rolling her eyes hard for a moment before shooting a response back.

Now Goose just had to figure out what restaurant but he was relieved that he seemed to be on the right track.

He watched Summer text as she talked, he was rather fascinated by that. He had another shot.

“Would…”he hesitated as another thought came up him, “do you think it would be to soon to get him a gift?”

He had an idea that had been forming for the last couple of weeks, he just had to run it by his Captain first.

It was called multitasking, and Summer was phenominal at it. Clearly, juggling two conversations between texting and talking was pretty much just a natural state of being for Summer. The particular nature of these two conversations at the moment, though? Now that was art. That was...*chef's kiss*

"Depends," she said, as her eyes roved over another text that was clearly giving War and Peace a run for its money, but she couldn't help smirking at the end of it, and her response was very quick and very precise so she could then turn her full attention back to Goose while Ignis, no doubt, composed his next great Lucian novel.

"On what kind of gift you were thinking. I wouldn't go anything too big or anything, but, then again, my boyfriend got me ion cannons for my spaceship on our first date, so, I mean, my guage on that sort of thing might also be a little skewed."

Surprisingly, though, her phone buzzed with a response already, and it turned out that Ignis was capable of not only brevity, but also of making Summer roll her eyes even harder, in both real life and in emoji.

The concept of multitasking was still quite new to Goose, who was not organised in the slightest.

“Well I do have to still run it by my Captain,” Goose explained, “but I was thinking of getting Ignis his own communicator that my unit issues,” Goose said, as he showed her his communicator , “so that he’d have additional resources and if he ever needed backup he could reach me and my team,” he said, unaware that there was going to be a slight complication with that plan. He paused, “do you think that’s too much?”

"A communicator?" asked Summer, who almost held out her hand to take a closer look at it, but she was distracted by her own communicator as another response came through and she fought against a smirk by the time she finished reading it. "Very practical, but also, you know, kind of personal? Like...an extra layer of connection. Useful. Exactly the sort of thing I think might be right up his alley..."

And with that, she was going to shoot off her response to Mr. Practical on his other planet in his differnet dimension right now.
