There were some days when Shunsui breezed into the shop and was tempted to just breeze right back out, that had nothing to do with the threat of actually having to work or anything like that, but, instead, had to do with things like Apu-san having set up a bathtub in front of the Squishy machine and was currently sitting in it, reading a book.

It took several minutes of Shunsui opening his mouth to say something, stopping, reconsidering, tilting his head, and trying again, only to repeat the whole process, until, finally, he just came up with, somewhat witheringly, "Don't you have one of those that you can do that in upstairs, Apu-san ♥?"

Apu seemed to mostly ignore him, lifting his chin and giving a pointed flip of the page of his book. Shunsui just shook his head and went to flutter over to his usual spot behind the counter, but not before grabbing an extra bottle of sake from the liquor aisle in preparation.

"Please tell me that you're at least wearing swin trunks in there, Apu-san," he finally added, "or else I don't want to hear anyone making any more comments about me being inappropriate at work."

Octavia minded the bathtub.

She minded so much, in fact, that she actually stopped at the door. "Maybe I'll... come back another time."

That was completely fair.

Shunsui shot a pointed glance in Apu's direction, complete with an I-told-you-so gesture and a shake of his head as his point about bathing in store would only serve to drive away customers was being proven true.

Believe him, if bathing in the store had been even remotely appropriate, Shunsui himself would be bathing in here all the time.

But Apu, of course, ignored him in favor of his book, another page defiantly flipped, and that withering look turned apologetically toward Octavia.

"That's probably an excellent idea, Octavia-chan," he comissersted, "as much as I hate to see you go. Will you be brooding in the Nest tonight? If there was anything you needed in particular, perhaps I can just bring it by for you ♡?"

Special deliveries due to bathtub wasn't an offer he'd give to everyone, but in this case...

"Just fruit," Octavia replied - once she managed to pry her mildly puzzled gaze away from the tub, anyway. "Whatever's fresh and in season."

She was perturbed enough to complete skip making any dry comment about brooding, so, good job, Apu.

But birds had broods and it was the Devil's Nest, and it had all been a very clever choice of words, if you asked Shunsui, and...

...oh, never mind.

Instead, he just gave a consenting nod and an apologetic smile, "I'll see what I can muster up, Octavia-chan ♡."

"Thank you."

A beat, another glance.

"Okay I'm going now." And then she went. Bested by a bathtub.
