Caritas; Wednesday [02/16].

There had been so, so much leftoever Valentine's Day candy at Turtle & Canary, but also Summer had been making so, so many romantically themed jello shots that she was over it, tempting as it was to get rid of the extra stock by incorporating it, she could not, and an artiste bring herself down to that level. She had spiritually moved on from that point, and was even more validated in her decision when she came into Caritas that night for her shift to find that there was still plenty of other Valentine's Day candy spread out all around the bar.

Which wasn't to say she wasn't happy to indulge in eating some of that candy, of course, but she was glad it wasn't overload by showing up in her jello shots, as well. It was clearly time to get back to the basics.

Have some jello, have some beer, have some candy, please, because, ohgod, why is there so much of it here, too?

Even though he had been quite social the last several days, including having his drinking session at the party last Friday, Goose was still back at the bar, deciding his healing factor had clearly rested enough.

He approached the bar and blinked, “that’s a lot of candy,” he remarked, looking down at the bar.

Summer lifted her hands as if to express that they had absolutely nothing to do with any of it, thank you.

"It's almost worse than the post-Halloween deluge," she said. "But what can you do? Except maybe have a few," she cut a glance toward Mr. No-Concept-of-Reasonable-Limits over here, "and wait for them to eventually disappear into the mysterious ether where these things tend to end up."

Goose grinned, “well I can always have some if you need help getting rid of it,” he offered because Goose and candy could be just as bad as Goose and alcohol, so combining the two was going to be an interesting combination.

That poor healing factor never stood a chance.

....oh dear god, this poor man's stomach.

Summer wondered if she had a responsibility to somehow prevent this, but, hey, Goose was a grown-ass man, and it could be a valuable learning experience.

She wondered if she should send ul some Pepto Bismol for him in the morning, though.

"Well, there's plenty," Summer reiterated, "and lots to drink to wash it down with, too."

Well you would think by now Goose would have learned that all that sugar was just asking for trouble but then Goose didn’t seem to understand that there were such things as limits for a reason and just because he could do something, it didn’t mean he should.

“I’ll definitely have both,” Goose grinned, as he leaned over to start helping himself to the candy, “and can I have all the shots as well please?” he nodded towards the special boards.

Why Goose?

Someone wasn’t going to be sleeping tonight or the next twenty four hours either.

Someone was definitely getting a text later about how he needed to come collect his boyfriend, wasn't he?

"Well," said Summer, already lining them up for him, "I was gonna say no," no she wasn't, "but since you asked so nicely...

"How've you been, Goose? Good week so far?"

There was definitely going to have to be a text later.

“It’s been pretty good overall,” Goose grinned, “actually a lot busier than normal,” he added as he considered “how about you?”

"Pretty good," Summer reported with a nod. "Pretty busy. But that's good, I like busy. Did you and Ignis end up going out for V-Day?"

She couldn't remember if she'd gotten a follow-up on that, but, considering how nervous Goose had been and how chill he was now, she could probably fill in the blanks, but what fun was thaaaat?

“We did,” Goose nodded with a smile and his cheeks turned slightly pink, “we went to a place on the mainland …it was nice, really nice,”

He hadn’t been able to drink and all being underage but he’d still had a nice time being with Ignis and speaking of drink, he brought one of those shots closer to him.

"Hey Summer," Kurt said as he took a seat and then caught sight of the piles of candy everywhere. "That... is a lot of candy!" Which was odd for him to point out seeing how his own dorm room was well stocked with candy as well.

"Hey, Kurt," Summer greeted him back with a smile. "That's usually how it goes after big candy holidays around here, yeah, so help yourself. We'll be dealing with a flood of it for probably the remainder of the week, and then, poof, nothing.

"What can I get you to drink?"

The shots this week weren't really all that kid-friendly, and let's just ignore that the concept of 'kid-friendly shots' were even a thing in their purview at all.

"I am going to be a bit boring today and go with a coke, at least to start... if that's ok" Kurt said with a slightly apologetic grin. He knew how much Summer enjoyed showing off her shot creations. "Did a fair bit of porting around today with classes so feeling a bit worn out and tried as it is. Probably shouldn't be adding alcohol to that just yet... even if it would take a bit to affect me at all."

"Smart," Summer complimented, definitely more than happy to get the occasional Just Coke, especially with how many of her friends tended to abstain, anyway, and poured one for Kurt. "Good productive day, then?"

"Classes were fun today" Kurt said with a nod of thanks. "I usually work up an appetite in Weapons class. But then today in Prince Sidon's class, Libby and I were doing a lot of running and porting and chasing. It was part of the class activity" he added quickly so Summer didn't think they were just randomly chasing each other around during class.

It was a Fandom class; she'd have pretty much assumed those were involved in it somehow, considering what kind of classes they tended to have here.

"Sounds like a lot of fun," Summer said. "I don't think I've met Libby yet, though. Is she part of the new batch with you?"

"Yeah! Libby and I met at the airport the first day" Kurt said with a broad grin. "She's really nice and cool to hang out with! She... might not be around here often though. She's not big on the whole bar thing. I think the first time she was here was the other night for the 3MDs."

....adorable. God. Was she ever hat young and cute? Summer, in her ripe old age of twenty-one, just shook her head with a faint smile.

"I think it's generally actually a good thing that more teenagers aren't 'big on the whole bar thing,'" she said, "but I have no room to talk on that. Did you wind up doing the 3DMs, too, Kurt?"

"Yeah the dates went pretty well. Ended up with mostly people I already knew so was more of a getting to know people a bit better sort of thing. But it was still fun."

Kurt paused as he thought of something that had entered his mind several times during the dates in fact.

"I have to wonder though, does anyone every actually have any success with a date that only lasts three minutes?" Because it really didn't seem like nearly enough time to even introduce yourself... course his introductions usually were a bit more complicated than most people's for... obvious reasons. But still, he was curious.

"Well, the three minutes isn't really supposed to be, like, a full-on date where all the magic or whatever happens," Summer explained. "It's more like...just an ice breaker. A sampling. A sort of try-it-before-you-buy-it situation. You get little snippets of everyone and then, after, if you sort of felt that spark with anyone, then you follow up. Ask them on a real date. Then see where that goes."

Ah yes. That spark. The elusive spark everyone kept talking about... "Well it was a fun time at least. Even if nothing like that came from it" Kurt said with a slight sigh. "Always next time right?"

"I think I wanna try the amaretto one," Annie decided, poking around through the candy until she found both an Almond Joy and a Reese's Cup, and slipped the latter into her purse before tearing open the former. (A gift for Diego, or a snack for later? Time -- and hunger and drunkeness -- would tell!) "Good week, Summer?"

No sex store parties to cater, no, but there had been Valentine's Day and flowers and apparently people were going to Africa next week, which made Annie kind of wish she'd developed a whole semester-long bike-riding curriculum or taught performing arts again.

"Pretty good week," Summer confirmed, setting down an amaretto shot for Annie and shaking her head a little at at least half of that candy selection. "Honestly pretty ready for a good wind-down before spring break. It was busy, and I didn't even crash 3MD this time.

"How about you? Your Vought Make-a-Wish thing go okay?"

"It was stupidly cute," Annie shared with a happy sigh. "I mean, for a Vought thing." Always with the qualifier. "Crashing 3MD can be fun, though! I mean, I got signed up last time and just talked to people I already knew."

Including a memorable conversation about how cruel the odds had been to poor Prompto of all people.

"I'm pretty sure I would have just spent most of it hyping up other people and then stealthily sending people helpful drinks at the end of it depending on how they went," Summer admitted, "but hey, that is not a bad way to spend a Saturday. You manage to get at least a little time for you and Diego?"

"Yeah, I make a really good wingwoman," Annie admitted, for the second time in under a week, and maybe she should do three minute dates next time if only for that. "But yeah! He came to the tower and I actually got out of work early enough that he didn't get stuck in an elevator with one of my weirdo coworkers, so that was a huge perk right there."

It kept happening. Honestly, Rey and Summer getting her reality crew had kind of been one of the most normal of those incidents.

"And you and Barry?" she checked, lifting her brows.

"Oh, you knooooow," said Summer, with a casual shrug and a roll of her eyes and a gesture as she rambled off some ironically very specific scenario that will actually be remarkably, spectacularly handwavey and shamelessly modded in the narrative, but probably involved space, guns, explosions and potentially carnivorous jello gone awry.

"NBD. But god, those elevators. You'd think with their kind of money, they'd be able to afford something that could move a little faster...."

But what fun would that be?

Vi walked into the bar. Then almost walked straight back out again, but she couldn't get served at the other bar, so she didn't really have a lot of choice here.

"Something strong, I don't care what." She knew from what Vander used to keep under the bar this was a risky move, but bad choices were being committed to here.

Thinking there weren't other options in that respect simply meant you weren't trying hard enough, Vi.

But Summer did quirk an eyebrow when Vi didn't immediately just turn and leave, and when she put in her order, grabbed just a decent bottle of whiskey for a patented Summer Smith Heavy Handed pour and set it in front of her.

And thought about just leaving it at that, but....bartender hat.

"Vi," she nodded. "Feeling better?"

Brewing prison rotgut took time, and would probably put back all that progress she'd made on the roommate front if Libby found it. Plus, drinking alone alone wasn't a habit Vi wanted to pick up.

She downed the whiskey quicker than she probably should have. "I'm not about to puke again." That wasn't really a yes, Vi.

Summer was just going to look slightly dubious about that assessment, at at least the bottle hadn't gotten too far away so she could top Vi off with another.

"It'd be a terrible waste of this whiskey if you did," she noted.

Vi picked up her glass again, though at least she only sipped it this time. "I'm not going to puke here," she said. Though she'd be moving the waste-basket closer to her bed later as a precaution. "The candy'd be worse than the booze for that."

Summer was pretty sure those sounded like famous last words, but she was definitely not going to push the issue.

"Yeaaaaah," she agreed, "the candy definitely feels like a choice, ironically, because I'm pretty sure it actually just showed up. It happens, though. I'd be more surprised if it didn'tm"

Vi knew her limits. That she was deliberately heading towards those limits was irrelevant.

"Seems fucking wasteful," she muttered, because that was a safer unexamined feeling to express.

Please, no throwing candy at the zombies.

Or, well, you could, but that's just rude.

Or as Summer likes to call it that evening, the excess candy storage facility.
