Prom 2022, Community Center, Friday Evening

In response to how uncomfortable this week had been, the theme of this year's prom was a Winter Wonderland. The Community Center was decked out with shiny fake snowflakes, plastic fuzzy snow creatures, and plenty of glitter snow. Cold decorations might not actually chill out anyone's hormones, but it was worth a shot.

The food and punch were as normal as anything could be with all the pollen still floating around, and hopefully everyone would be on their best behavior. If not, you might have some children to explain your actions to in the morning.

Unlike the last dance, Vi had actually gotten a new outfit for this one and she looked just as good as her VA in it, she'd even managed to get hold of matching black handwraps.

Blame the flower shop. Blame the O'Keefeian inspiration her art had taken this week. Blame the fact that this was her last high school dance, so she might as well make the most of it. Senior prom, after all, was supposed to be a big deal, right?

So Astrid felt she really was making the most of it with her bold and daring dress, which she'd definitely feel in love with the moment she tried it on, and the additional flowers on the hem had been a great way to channel some of the vibrating energy she'd been overflowing with all week.

The real question here was not about where Troy picked up his nice suit for Prom. It was Prom, of course he'd have to make sure to go all out.

The real question was whether it had been an intentional choice to not wear socks, or if Troy had just forgotten to put them on. And whether or not you believed him when he said it was definitely the first one.

Prom really wasn't a thing back in Japan, but Sakaki had asked her friends from home their thoughts on what she should wear, especially since they all knew about American proms and would have Opinions.

Most of what was suggested involved a lot of dresses that involved a lot of high-cut slits and low-cut bodices that seemed to suggest that all her friends imagined her to be some sort of tall, slinky super model international spy now, which were not at all her style and seemed particularly dangerous during this week.

So when Chiyo-chan's sweet, innocent, not at all objectifying response came in, Sakaki latched onto that hard and managed to find something cute and sweet based on her suggestions, even if she felt it was probably too adorable for her to really actually pull off.

Libby really didn't know what to think of the fact that she apparently might need more than one Nice Dress for attending normal school, and she wondered if she should just wear the same dress she wore for that other school dance, but, actually, in light of this week and how things had been going, she absolutely was keeping it very simple and proper.

And would be trying very hard not to gawk at those who definitely did not or feel embarrassed that she hadn't just misread the assignment, she'd been working from a different textbook entirely. Fine. It was fine! She wouldn't have known what to do in anything fancier than this, anyway! And at least she'd managed to fancy up her hairstyle a litlte, at the very least...

Things like this were definitely outside Kurt's comfort zone. But he was there, trying and likely failing to not look too out of place. But he did have a nice white suit to wear for the night.

Look, it wasn't long before Jules would be back home and her Black Council would start insisting she dress like how tradition dictated a Queen dress. Which meant, well. Black. A lot of black. Which honestly she'd also be doing her best to change but royal fashion, while annoying, wasn't super-high on the priority list.

So she was just going to enjoy being able to wear a dress in naturalist green while she could, thank you.

(And yes, the slit in her dress absolutely was meant to show off her robotic leg. Another thing she'd have to learn to do without fairly soon.)

Illyana had wanted to go with a suit again, but Wong and Clea had both been very insistent that she should try glam for once.

Picking the dress had been a bit fraught, since Clea didn't actually know anything about what a Prom was and what was and was not appropriate (and Faltine fashion was just begging for trouble this week), but the compromise between Wong and Clea was actually something Illyana liked, surprisingly enough.

She'd swept up all her blonde hair into an updo, and totally had her Vans on under the dress. It wasn't like anyone would be able to tell.

Kiem had just gone with what seemed to be the standard style of dress for this kind of event, although he had nearly forgotten about actually buying the suit as this week had been distracting. Still he was here, looking quite nice, or at least so he thought himself.

Clare didn't have enough pocket money that she had more than one fancy dress, so she was wearing the same one from Homecoming, looking around and giving judgey face to some of the outfits people were wearing.

Even though Alexis could pull it off. It was so unfair that she was going to school with such tall, skinny, glamourous people.

Belle had worn this dress before but she hadn't really had her mind on shopping this week. Besides, it was pretty. And she looked good in it.

The DJ had a wide variety of music playing, and there were plenty of slow songs for dancing close, if that might be your thing tonight for some reason.

Libby hadn't really intended to cling to Kurt's arm as much as she had, but the closer they got to the dance floor, the more the butterflies in her stomach seemed like they'd just been caught up in some sort of tornado....while it was already dealing with the thunderstorm that had been there pretty much all week. "You know," she admitted, quietly, so quietly that it might not have even been heard over the music, if she wasn't so close, "I've never actually done this before."

Yes, please, try and contain your shock.

As a virtually card carrying Responsible Adult in the Room, Ignis was certainly going to make it a point to put in his due diligence as a chaperone for the dance tonight. After all, there had been plenty of hours between his class that morning and the event, and he always did pride himself in being exceptionally good at time management.

Zoe tried not to make a face as she tapped on the mic, but these things still didn't like letting her talk without squeaking.

"Good evening. I'm pleased to announce this year's prom court. For the juniors, our kings are Kiem Tegnar and Harry Potter, and our queens are Alexis Rose, Belle, and Tahani al-Jamil. For the seniors, our king is Troy Barnes, and our queens are Astrid Magnussen, Illyana Rasputin, and Jules Milone."
