Tino looked at Jaye like she had two heads when she actually showed up to work.

She ignored him for a while. Got herself a beer because she deserved it and they were right there. Looked anywhere but at him.

But she could feel him watching her, and finally said, "I was busy getting exorcised, okay?"

It was worrying how casually he accepted that explanation.

Steve hadn't seen Jaye in forever and it looked like the bar was open so....win/win!

"Could I have a beer, please?" he asked, smiling.

"Look ay you, not making me work," Jaye grinned, getting him that beer.

"I have respect for the way things work," Steve said with another smile. "If I want a fruity frozen thing, I'll ask Annie. She loves working the blender."

"I don't actually know who that is," Jaye admitted.

She did. She'd met her at least twice. Jaye was just kind of an ass.

"She's the blonde bartender at the other bar," Steve said. "Heavy pourer."

You know, the important information.

"Haven't seen her, but she's okay in my book, then."

Again, met her twice.

"She ,akes a pretty decent mai tai," Steve said, sipping from his beer, "which I am required by law as a Hawaiian to check for quality."

"I might have to check it out. I'm a simple girl, with simple needs, but I also like when people work for me," she said.

Steve laughed. "That tracks for what I know of you," he teased. "How have you been?"

"Nearly got exorcised by a questioning nun," Jaye deadpanned. "You?"

Ow, ow, beer through his nose.

[fates_jaye]

Jaye picked up a few cocktail napkins and held them out for him, helpfully.

"Nearly exorcised?" he repeated, wiping his face.

[fates_jaye]

"Apparently I gave her something to believe in again so she could get thee back to a nunnery," Jaye said. "The cops showed up before she could actually stab me.

[grenadesandohana]

"Well, good for the cops," Steve said. "I'm glad to hear when we're doing our jobs correctly. I'd be sad if you were stabbed by a nun--though you'd probably never have to buy a drink again with a story that ends with you getting stabbed by a nun."

"I did get a nun arrested," she pointed out.

"I'll buy you a shot for that," Steve said.

"Deal," she said, getting herself a shot glass. "Did I miss anything here? Scandals? Ponies?"

Really unfortunate facial hair?

"There was a reunion?" Steve said.

"Like people came back, or people got old?" Jaye checked.

[grenadesandohana]

"First one, then the other," Steve said. "I don't remember most of it any more."

[fates_jaye]

"Probably for the best. That's how you get depressed over bad life choices and worse hair," she said.

[grenadesandohana]

"I do remember a beard that Danny hated," Steve admitted.

[fates_jaye]

"Can you describe it?" Jaye asked, hopeful.

[grenadesandohana]

"Roadkill-adjacent."

Danny had not been flattering.
