Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

That morning when Steven arrived at work there was a note from Blathers. It asked if he minded coming in on Tuesdays instead over the next few weeks since the mun's schedule was changing as well.

It made no difference to Steven so, rather than wake Blathers up to tell him, he wrote a note back in the affirmative and left it in Blathers' office.

After which Steven made himself comfortable behind the Welcome Desk. While he sat there, he checked the calendar on his phone to make sure nothing about this would interfere with his or Marc's schedules.

And speaking of schedules... while they'd never officially discussed it, Watts and Steven had fallen into a pattern of bringing each other lunch at work on alternating weeks. And this week, it was Watts's turn to bring lunch by for Steven, so here he was, shouldering his way through the museum doors with two paper bags in hand.

"Hello, you," he greeted. "Ready for a break?"

Speaking of people he'd need to update about his schedule...

Steven smiled when he saw Llewellyn walk in. "Hello, you. Perfect timing, I was just beginning to feel peckish."

That would be rather awkward, wouldn't it, were he to show up week after next with lunch only to find no one there but the owl? Ignoring, of course, that radio would likely have clued him in by then even if Steven hadn't, just for the mental image.

"The, ah, usual spot?" he asked, tilting his head in the direction of the aquatic exhibits. And then taking a moment to briefly deposit one of the bags on the desk so he could take off his hat and leave it there, before picking said bag back up again.

Steven was distracted enough by how nice it was that they had a usual spot that he barely noticed Llewellyn putting his hat over one of the brochure holders, effectively making the brochures disappear. Hopefully if anyone came in while Steven was away from the desk they wouldn't need a printed guide to the history displays downstairs.

"Please," Steven said. He put up his usual sign that he was taking lunch - next to Llewellyn's hat, appropriately enough - and came around the desk to join him. "Speaking of usual, my schedule's changing next week. I'll be working Tuesdays for a while."

Steven had a usual chair in his office, they had a usual spot at the museum. Synchronicity!

"Any particular reason for the change?" Watts asked.

Liz still liked the idea of being able to take photos of the butterfly exhibit and she was feeling a lot better than last week, despite starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with how tight her clothes were becoming, so she decided to take a break from work and stop by with her camera and had made a stop by the bakery as usual since she didn’t want to turn up empty handed.

“Hi,” she said softly with a smile when she arrived.

Steven smiled when he saw her. "Liz! Hello! How are you?"

“Better than I was last week,” Liz told him, “still a bit tired but I’m doing okay,” she said softly. “how about you?” she asked, remembering their conversation from last week.

"Well, thank you," Steven said. "Seems I'm to be working Tuesdays for a while so change of pace, I suppose. You look well, by the way."

“Thank you, I think I’m going to need to look at getting a new wardrobe soon though, my leather outfits aren’t going to fit me for much longer,” Liz said glancing down at her stomach, there still wasn’t a bump but she could feel the changes, “oh that will be a bit different, is it only temporary?” she asked with a tilt of her head.

Stark had been meaning to stop by the museum and look around and he needed to let Steven know that he would be there tomorrow so today seemed like an excellent time to do both. So once blacksmithing class was over he made his way to the museum and approached the desk.

"Hello, Steven."

Steven looked up with pleasant surprise to see him. "Stark! Hello! How goes it?"

"Oh, it's fine. I'm fine. I thought I would come say hello since I hadn't been here yet."

It only seemed fair since Steven had stopped in at the clinic more than once now.

"Well then hello," Steven said. "Suppose I'll ask like you did me: here to chat or to have a look about? Either's fine of course."

"Mostly to talk, I think, but I should look as long as I'm here," Stark told him. It would be silly not to look around at least a little, wouldn't it?

"I don't need to talk much but I talked to Travis last night." Texting was like talking. Close enough.

Lana came into the museum, pleased to be out of the heat, and smiled at Steven. "Hello, how are you today?"

"Lana, hello!," Steven said. He waved her in, knowing the look of someone who was glad for air conditioning. "Horrid out, isn't it?"

"And yet it will be deep frozen in winter." Lana shook her head. "I don't know if I'll ever get used to Earth."

"Still waiting to see what winter here is like," Steven said. He realized how silly that sounded given that he'd moved to Fandom in late Spring. "I mean, obviously. But more like over in London it's not so bad. Yeah we get cold and snow and all but nothing like blizzards or anything. Or that planet you told me about, all snow everywhere."

"Hoth," Lana said. "I'll be happy never to spend too much time there again. Fandom's weather tends toward the odd. Sugar snow, and so forth. Still cold, though. London is..the next continent over, isn't it?"

Nell came into the museum - and out of the heat - with a sigh of relief. "Oh, that's much better. How are you, Steven?"

She might have been carrying a package with her.

"Much cooler in here," Steven said, waving Nell in so she could fully benefit from the air conditioning. "Hello, how are you? Do you need help with that?"

"I'm good," Nell said, "and better now that I'm out of that heat. I think I must be getting soft with all the air conditioning in this place."

She smiled and handed it to him. "Don't need help with it, but it is for you. Made some vegan cupcakes - which I think came out fairly tasty. Put some jam in the middle so they didn't turn out too dry. And there are a couple of vegan brownies, shich are a bit on the gooey side, but I think I like them even better than your standard brownie."

Steven took the box with all due appreciation. "Cheers, thank you. You needn't have done it but I won't say no, especially with one of your jams in there. Is it all right if I save them for later?"

"Of course," Nell said. "It would be a bit much to eat right now. And I made sure there were enough to share if you wanted."
