The zombie band was playing elevator music tonight. Just... so much Manilow. Jaye had heard the Girl from Ipanema twice. Upon the start of an Englebert Humperdinck kick she'd begged them to do something, anything, twice, but they'd only started playing louder.

So have fun with that, patrons. And maybe being your bartender some earplugs.

Steve came in and grinned at the music. "This is like what I play in the car!"

Steven. Steven, your choices.

His beard was two weeks old and not exactly dead quokka but well past 5 o'clock shadow.

"Tell me you're kidding," Jaye said, half a sigh.

"Nope," Steve said happily. "It drives Danny nuts."

And therefore why he kept doing it.

"Oh then I support you, also please make this stop," she said.

She got him to start the beard, maybe she could manifest this!

"I don't think they'll listen to me," Steve admitted.

"Give them citations," Jaye said.

"I'm not sure bad musical taste is actually a crime," Steve mused.

"They're disturbing my peace!"

Worth a shot.

"Aren't they always, though?" Steve said. "Maybe if we drink something, it won't sound as bad."

"Ugh, had to try," she said. "Beer?"

"Please," Steve said, grinning.

"Coming right up," she said, getting him a beer. "Nice beard."

Steve grinned. "Thanks."

"What's Danny saying?" she asked.

"He keeps throwing beard product at me and grumbling," Steve said.

"He knows about the free shots, right?" Worth it.

"That's the only reason he hasn't shaved me while I sleep," Steve admitted.

"That's a gross sentence and I don't like it," Jaye said, making a face.

"Yeah, me either," Steve said. "Think I'll need a shot too."

"Did we decide if those get free before you reach roadkill stage?" she asked, grabbing a shot glass.

"Yes?" Steve tried.

"I'll allow one. Maybe two," she said. "Not my bar."

"I'll even have one be tequila," Steve said.

"Ah, tequila. The liquor of good choices," Jaye said, getting a bottle to pour.

Look at that, Steve. She even poured for you.

"And definitely not how I got at least one tattoo," Steve agreed with a wink.

"You can't bring that up," Jaye told him, sliding over the shot. "I've already got you turning your face into a small animal."

"But it looks good!"

Ehhh.

"Yes it does," Jaye said, because she wanted him to keep doing it.

And Steve hadn't even had the tequila yet!

"Thank you!"
