Fandom Island Museum, Tuesday Daytime

Steven was on time today, which he was rather proud of. After some debate, he decided to take the succulent that Nell had provided and put it on one of the tables in the fish exhibit so it could have a change of scenery. He wasn't entirely certain if Nell would know the difference when she came back and checked on the plant, but he wanted to give it a go all the same.

Besides, it might make a nice decoration for later. Perhaps during lunch, if that's where he happened to eat lunch today.

That done, he settled into his usual position behind the Welcome Desk, ready to help anyone who stopped by.

'Where he happened to eat lunch today,' said the narrative, as if it weren't indeed Watts's turn to bring lunch by, leaving very little question of where lunch would be eaten.

"Hello, you," Watts said, sidling up beside the welcome desk (with the aforementioned lunch in hand) so he can punctuate that hello with a quick kiss to Steven's cheek. Because... because why not, that's why.

Which made for two ways Steven had remembered what day it was today! Very impressive, really.

Though for his part Steven was far more impressed by how bold Llewellyn was. He snuck a quick kiss of his own before replying, "Hello, you."

Steven's grin? Besmitten.

Said boldness had been... spurred on, let's say, by a particular conversational topic they'd kept coming 'round to this past Saturday.

He deposited his hat on the desk, right over the plastic holder stuffed with brochures. "Ready for lunch?" he asked, holding out an arm for Steven to take because again, if you couldn't do these sorts of things with the man you loved then- well.

It was the sort of boldness which made the conversational topic increasingly likely to come up again. But first Steven put up the sign saying he was taking lunch. Then he came round to link arms with Llewellyn. "Ready. For the food. Especially the company."

Watts grinned over at him, leading them towards the fish exhibit. Whether or not the he gravitated towards the table with the succulent was anything to do with the plant, or whether he just liked the particular fish it happened to be in front of, or some other reason all together for picking that table wasn't entirely certain.

What was certain was the items he'd brought for lunch: waakye with some cassava couscous, spaghetti, and kelewele to accompany it.

"Plaintains again," he said with a nod towards the last dish, settling down beside Steven. "Though done differently than the ones you brought last week."

"Smells amazing," Steven said, taking it all in appreciatively. "I've not had any of it before. Well, plantains as you say but not done like this. Reminds me we've got to try Ethiopian as well. That one I've had, but new for you."

Steven snuck a quick kiss before sitting down. Because if kissing in the museum was an option, he was absolutely going to take it.

Oh, it was so very much an option.

That the fish were far less likely than the Troopers to do any sort of cat-calling or wolf-whistling regarding public displays of affection was also a factor.

“Seeking our new cuisines to try has proved to have a secondary benefit for me as well,” Watts commented.

Of course it remained to be seen if the succulent would have stories to tell Nell when she got back.

"Is the company the first benefit?" Steven asked. Because it was for him.

Well, at least none of those stories involved an unintentional plant-maiming, occupied as Watts was with utensils and the like.

… So far, anyway.

“The company is the foremost important benefit,” Watts confirmed. Look, there were a number of people on the island he’d take a meal with. But there was only one he wanted to deliberately share new culinary experiences with.

"Funny thing, that," Steven said. He reached for a set of utensils, absolutely brushing his hand against Llewellyn's more than was necessary in order to do it. "It is for me as well. Extra bonus: we get to test the theory if seeing you sets my week to right. More than it usually does, at least."

“How has it been, so far?” Watts asked.

"Got here on time and all," Steven said, proudly. "No sleep problems. Least as far as I remember. Still. Best you came. Can't be too careful. Whole night ahead of me to make sure I get right, yeah?"

“Precisely,” Watts agreed. “And whatever part I can play in ensuring your week is a good one, I’m happy to, darling.”

Since Liz now had a bit of free time on Tuesdays without her classes, she had taken the time to go for a walk and take her camera with her to take some photos. She had ended up over by the museum so she thought she’d come round and visit.

“Hi,” she said with a smile as she approached the welcome desk.

Steven smiled when he saw her. "Liz! Hello. How are you? Both of you."

Liz smiled as she glanced down at her stomach, resting her hand there, her stomach had started to grow a bit even though there wasn't much of a bump yet, “we’re both doing well,” she told him, “thank you” she said, “how about you? How have you found working on Tuesdays?”

"Bit hard last week," Steven admitted. "Completely off my game. Sleep and everything. But it's all right now? I think? Got here on time at least. Speaking of you and her, mind if I ask you something?"

“Oh I’m sorry,” Liz said softly, “that can't have been easy, I hope everything is okay now,” she told him and then to his question, she nodded, “of course, what did you want to ask me?”

Steven gave her a look of gratitude for her sympathy. "See how it goes tonight I suppose? And what I was wondering is I know you have to eat a certain way, considering her and all. Can you still have biscuits? Only I was thinking of bringing you some as a surprise when you're at work one day. Which, surprise ruined I suppose. But better to ask to see if you could eat them? Maybe?"

Liz did smile at that, “it’s still nice that you thought of me and her though,” she assured him, “I think biscuits are okay, I should probably not eat a lot of them though,” she admitted after a bit of consideration.

"Right. Not forbidden at least." Steven smiled at her. "Now all we need is for you to pretend to be surprised when it happens."

"I will do my best to act surprised," Liz promised, nodding as she returned the smile.

"Never had this conversation," Steven said, tapping the side of his nose conspiratorially. "Got another question, though, if you don't mind me being on a roll. Would you consider what you do magic? With the fire and all?"

“Completely forgotten,” Liz grinned and she tilted her head at the second question, “you know I never really thought about it like that,” she admitted, “I never really saw it as magic but then I suppose they could be perceived that way,”

Steven nodded since it made sense to him. "It came up yesterday. Well, not directly. But I met a new person in town. Liliana. She owns the shop down the street next to the animal shelter? She asked about spellcasters. I said we had people who did things like magic but don't know if you'd call them spells. But you see how I'd think of you. What you do is sort of magical but, dunno. Always thought of it as you really. Part of all the interesting things you are."

A belated thought occurred to Steven and he quickly added, "I didn't tell her about you specific, though. It's only it made me think of you is all."
