Eric came into the bar still looking a little smug from his successful date on Saturday.

Well. "Date."

He slouched into a bar stool and glanced over at Tiny who was sipping something with evident enjoyment. "What are you drinking?"

Tiny rumbled an answer.

"Tino's homemade malort," Eric repeated. "Pass."

The Devil's Nest was open. Don't drink the malort.

Eric gave him a little wave. "Marc."

"Eric," Marc replied. He looked Eric over. Something seemed different. "You look... cheerful."

Marc was totally guessing. Hell if he knew what a cheerful Eric looked like.

Eric smirked. "It was an interesting Saturday night."

At that moment in time Steven had kept a solid lock on the events of Saturday. Marc knew he'd had a date with Watts so the natural assumption was whatever happened was the kind of thing Marc emphatically did not want details on.

So Marc guessed. "New sculpture medium at the bar?"

It would explain the smell.

"Speed dating at Caritas," Eric said. "I met him."

He nodded at Raiden.

Smug. Smug smug smug.

Marc took a look at Raiden, then saluted Eric with his drink. "Hopefully the speed part was limited to the introductions."

"I don't kiss and tell," Eric said, smiling, "but yes."

"Must've been good if he's back for round... whatever you're up to," Marc said.

What? They both looked like they had stamina.

"Lost count," Eric bragged.

Marc gave another salute with his glass. "Mazel tov. Viking friend of yours?"

It was Marc. Be amazed that something about Raiden gave him the vague impression that "Nordic" might be an appropriate descriptor.

"Nephilim, actually," Eric said.

Marc blinked. "Cool."

He had no idea what that was.

"Fallen angels," Eric said. "Basically. We didn't do a lot of talking. He's drinking blood?"

"Wouldn't that make him one of you?" Marc asked.

Eric waggled his hand. "He can go outside in the daytime, so not really?"

"Got it," Marc said. He sipped his drink thoughtfully. "Guess that explains the height."

In Marc's experience divine beings tended to be tall so, yanno. Angels probably counted, fallen or not.

Eric nodded. "Nephilim translates at giant, sometimes."

Marc didn't care personally but, yanno, one guy to another. "So like all around or...?"

Eric looked very smug.

Marc naturally had to salute with his drink again. "Couldn't happen to a nicer vampire."

Marc knew exactly one vampire personally but still.

"This is very true," Eric agreed. "How have you been?"

[hasaknightjob]

"Dealing with other people's shit," Marc replied. Which was turning into the story of his life.

Some people called this "having friends" but, you know. It was Marc. It was a big step he was saying it simply as an answer to Eric's question, not as a complaint.

"I'd say it's calmed down but I've learned that jinxes things around here." Reminded, Marc looked at Eric curiously. "Did you deal with that... luggage thing? Did we talk about that?"

"Well, the day the luggage hit was when Tiny decided to get artistic with olives for a week," Eric said, pursing his lips. "It was a lot."

"I don't think I remember that," Marc said, after taking a moment. "Don't take it personal. My memory is a freaking mess."

"Well, don't let Tiny hear that or he'll get re-inspired and we do not need another Olive de Milo around here."
