Fandom Museum- Monday
Connor made his way into the Museum that morning and got to work fairly quickly. He had been inspired by his talk with Michael the other day and an idea had been planted in his head and it wasn't about to go anywhere, so Connor was running with it.
Once the museum was open, he settled down behind the front desk and got to work tinkering at his current project. Rex soon settled down on his favorite ledge high above the Lobby and watched, giving an encouraging call or trilling chirp as he did.
Museum is open!

And it would distract him from the fact that he was still playing phone tag with his siblings while the freaking portal control authority or whatever it was kept telling him they couldn't go to Roswell in 2017.
If he was stuck here, he might as well make the best of it and go meet a dinosaur, right?
"This place did not look this big from the outside."

Theoretically!
"Your boss's name is Blathers?" Michael asked with a smirk. "Or is that a nickname?"
no subject
Connor figured now was not the time to mention the little fact that Blathers was a talking owl. Because that was something he was still having trouble wrapping his head around himself.
"But how you been? All good over at the junkyard still?"

handwavilytrying to figure out that portal business in town."no subject
Connor looked at Michael with a slightly crooked grin.
"But I bet you ain't here to see me huh?" He gave a small head shake. He was used to being upstaged by Rex... but the little guy was amazing so Connor couldn't hold a grudge really.

"Aye, Rex is excited to meet ya too I think," he said with a grin of his own and a glance up to the perch where the dragon had been watching them curiously.
"Rexy mate, come down and say hey to Michael!" Connor looked over at Michael with a grin. "Rex likes to be up where he can see everything. Use to living on mountains and in trees and all that."
no subject
"Hey," he greeted it. "You don't look too much like something I couldn't find somewhere in the desert. Maybe a little too green."
no subject
"Rex, be nice. Come down and be a good Coelurosauravus, ok mate?" Connor asked as he hled his arm out a bit.
Rex gave a trilling chirp and then jumped off the ledge and flew a couple of circles around the lobby for a moment, chirping happily as he did, before flying right past Michael and landing on Connor's arm and scurrying up to sit across his shoulders.
"Michael, meet Rex," Connor said with a huge grin directed Michael's way.

"You can pet him if you like. He's really friendly and loves head scritches."
no subject
"You sure? I don't want to . . . freak him out or anything."
Mmm, projection.
no subject
"But in the meantime," he started, not wanting Michael to feel pressured or uneasy, "I been going over the notes and research I brought with me from back home. Trying to see if there's anything that might help ya with the portal dilemma."
Connor motioned towards the admittedly disorganized spread of papers on the table. Hey, the organization wasn't one of his strong points. He worked on the promise of organized chaos most of the time.

“So are your anomalies limited to Great Britain?”
no subject
"As far as we could tell. That's part of why I came here in the first place," he said as he sat down and started pulling up some files and records. Letser would have an aneurysm for sure if he knew Connor was talking about the anomalies to someone without clearance, let alone showing classified files.... But thankfully, Lester wasn't here right?
"I wanted to see if there were cases where things like the anomalies or other portal-like events were happening."

He handed a few more pages with scribbled notes on them over to Michael. Feeling the most in his element he had since the whole anomaly insanity had started up.
"It looked like they were somewhat correlated to certain points in time- as far as past instances we figured were the anomalies. Like, the legends of unicorns, and Egyptian crocodile gods, and such... were cases of people seeing anomalies and different creatures coming out of them. That was the theory anyways. I'm sure you'd be able to make better sense of it all than I've been able to so far."

Connor shook his head and gave a dry laugh. "For all the years we spent dealing with them and learning about them there's still a lot we don't know. Guess I'm just not smart enough to put the pieces together just yet. Not that that has ever stopped me from trying!"
no subject
no subject
"Ya know... I don't think we ever made a connection like that but.... I also don't think we ever considered that."
A broad grin spread over his face as he looked from Michael to the papers in front of him and then back to Michael.
"That is a genius idea though, mate!"

“Sure. Sounds like fun.”
no subject
He had expected the typical, oh sorry I'm busy, response. It took Connor a couple of seconds to process what he had actually said.
"Oh, sure! Just let me know when," Connor said with a grin.
no subject
“Get turned down a lot, do you?”
He couldn’t picture it, but hey, some people just didn’t have any taste.
no subject
"When most responses end up some version of either outright denial or later finding out they said yes because they had lost a dare, you tend to keep your expectations low." Connor shifted his gaze to Michael and gave a small shrug.
Especially when it was someone like Michael standing there on the other side of things.

"Eh most of them it seems. Not all. I happen to think I still got a good eye."
no subject
“Yeah?” he asked. “I think I might need an example of this good eye. To be sure.”

"Hey now! We just don't have a lot of options. Cowboy hats weren't all that popular in my area. And don't insult me like that mate. Only the old geezers do that!"
And he was clearly a very hip and cool
and extremely awkward and geekyguy!no subject
Well, they did a decade ago, anyway.

Connor. No, don't get any ideas...

Like Michael wasn't mocked endlessly by his sister for that cowboy hat.
". . . Helps if you're actually from cowboy country though. Otherwise you might just look like a poser."
no subject
"So, what does... a handsome (and yes that might have been a little lower than normal speaking voice there) cowboy like yourself fancy as far as drinks? And please let it be something other than 'just a beer'" Connor added with a small smirk.
He'd forgive Michael... but he would never understand American's obsession with soda and cheap beer.

Said the guy from a canon whose previous iterations all involved the aliens eating everything with loads of hot sauce."But otherwise, you're not wrong."no subject
Connor considered Michael for a moment then gave a sly grin.
"I'll make sure to get some of the good stuff in before ya come over."
no subject
"Well, now, I'm gonna hold you to that," Michael said with a smile. "You come from the land of gin, I'm expecting a show."

no subject
"Oh, I will." Though he wouldn't be sharing anything he made with his acetone. "I think we've got a date!"
