Turtle & Canary; Friday [10/07].
So, Prompto had a new job, and he was weirdly kind of excited for it? Like, sure, his reasons for picking up employment here was entirely practical, to get some more money rolling in as well as to take liberal advantage of that employee discount, but, like, the T&C was practically an institution. One of many cogs that helped the gears of this place to keep turning. And maybe he'd just been feeling pretty introspective about a lot of stuff lately, but it almost felt like another way to fully integrate himself back into the island, to make himself a part of it again, hopefully in a way that made it more difficult to just whisk him out of it again...
Most of his day, however, seemed to be Apu insisting that there was still more training to be done, although he'd already done training with Summer, and while he could have told Apu that, it just felt easier to just go along with it and rehash some of the stuff.
Except for the things Apu told him that seemed to be in direct contradiction to what Summer had told him.
So "that should be fun!
He was also going to get a few shots of the cheese panda in his downtime, too, because stock photos of a panda in a grocery store felt like a really niche market that he might try to tap into.

A pause, a little bit of an awkward twist for a hazy part of his life that just seemed to have....faded away. "At least," he said, "there was. I haven't really checked to see if it was still there."
Nor would he, probably. It just felt....awkward and depressing to him now.

He kind of meant it both ways, that time.
"What kind of history are you interested in?"

Here, he hopped off the counter.
"I'll show you."
He took a few steps toward the appropriate aisle, before he stopped, turning back, remembering the crutches. "Er, did you need help? Or maybe I could just go check, bring some back for you. So you don't have to..." He gestured, vaguely, toward his whole....situation. "A little less work for you, anyway."

"What happened? If you don't mind me asking..."

As soon as it left his mouth, though, he stopped, to walk that back.
"Wait. Never mind. That is probably a question I don't really actually want the answer to."

Because it was easier and faster than explaining "tortured by a god".

So, instead, he just nodded. "Well," he mused, "here's to a quicker recovery than expected, man. And here," he gestured grandly as they reached their destination, "is the book section. Not a lot, but there might be something here."
It was, after all, incredibly varied and random and moddable, especially for its size, except for a distinct lack of books on military history.
What? Gladio wasn't going to spend two weeks in the woods without something to read!

"Turn left a little, Arthur." Arthur shuffled to turn. "Hm. I think most of these are fiction. Or maybe just lurid."
"I don't suppose you could help narrow it down at all."

It didn't take long before he snorted, though. "Well," he said, "I don't suppose cookbooks would interest you at all, would they? There are a lot of those from what looks like the 1950s, '60s, and '70s..."
For some odd reason.

"This looks like it starts after the World War two that other man mentioned," John said. "Hold the book, Arthur."
Arthur balanced more carefully on both crutches and his good leg, and raised his hand until it touched the book. He grabbed it while John opened it to the first few pages.
"This might be a place to start, anyway."
Arthur nodded. "Thank you. We can start with this."

He held out his hand, to take the book off of Arthur's.
"I can leave a note for Summer, too," he offered, "to bring in something else, if you'd like. She does all the ordering and things like that, I think."

John closed the book and nudged it toward Prompto, Arthur holding it out in that direction.
"Is the library also in that directory?" Arthur asked. Even though apparently he had an obscene amount of money in the bank, at modern costs it wouldn't go that far.
