Homecoming 2022, Community Center, Friday Evening

Homecoming in November meant the community center was decked out in harvest-themed decorations for this evening's festivities. There were pumpkins that had somehow survived un-carved after Halloween, baskets of glittery vegetables (not for eating, please), decorative hay bales, and... a disco ball?

It's a dance, some things get dug out of the decoration closet no matter what the theme might be.

The food table was full and the drinks were un-spiked for the moment, so it was time for everyone to get their dance on!

Who doesn't want some decorative gourds in the background of their homecoming pictures?

There aren't a lot of nutritious options, but they are tasty!

Please give the DJ credit for trying to find a nice balance between things teenagers might like and the Cupid Shuffle.

And maybe some alumni too? None of you are too cool to hang out at a school dance!

*insert bad dancing here*

It was homecoming! And a school event! Of course Sidon was going to be there to chaperone and be incredibly enthusiastic about it and grateful for spaces with plenty of room and high ceilings!

Graham didn't know enough about homecomings to know to dress up very much, but he did know enough about dances and the like to dress Triumph up, giving him a fancy little bowtie that made him look very dapper as they both came into the community center.

He just assumed that it was okay to bring Triumph. He was his best friend, after all, and any party that didn't allow Triumph was probably a party he didn't want to be at, anyway.

He didn't seem too concerned, though, as he was too busy being absolutely enamored and fascinated by the decor, and there was a very good chance that some of those glittery vegetables were going to end up in his pockets by the end of the night.

...maybe even the disco ball, too, if he was feeling ambitious!

Kurt wasn't totally comfortable in a party setting but he did want to be there and see everyone. So, he was there, wearing a simple jacket and pants men's suit and trying to look more comfortable than he felt.

When Dr. Lecter had took his class to Italy and had them pick something out, Libby knew she would one day be wearing the purple dress she'd fallen in love with to a dance like this. Where else would she wear it? And despite it being the very picture of modesty in style (although certainly not in color!), she was still feeling a little nervous and awkward because she'd never in a million years expect to just so casually be wearing something so nice and expensive! But she was trying not to think about that as much about just enjoying herself and having a good time.

Especially since normal high school homecomings were also something she'd have never imagined going to!

Guillermo had never gone to homecoming before but he had made the effort to dress up in a nice flannel shirt and a pair of jeans and tried to not feel so be awkward as he looked around and took everything in.

Sakaki was wearing the same white dress she wore to last year's homecoming, because she didn't really dress up much and she definitely didn't think anyone would notice. She'd also added butterflies to her very long hair, and was going to try to not be self-conscious about all of it as she mostly hung out by the wall.

Until she spotted Triumph, anyway, and then she was just overcome with how cute he was in his little bowtie.

She wish she'd have thought to bring a similarly dressed Maya! If she left early, it was because this clearly needed to happen now, but once she was back in her room with him, she wouldn't bother coming back, probably.

"Hi, Kurt." It was the complicated combination of things that had Libby seeming particularly shy when she spotted him and came over, with a smile and a duck of her head. The unfamiliarity of these kinds of events, the slight discomfort with wearing such nice clothes, remembering the very nice gift he'd given her only yesterday and the very nice dance they'd had much longer ago at the last one of these. But she also couldn't not come over, either, could she? "You look really nice."

Tahani pulled out a white and gold dress that ~~would be absolutely destroyed by a wee Tahani who won't appreciate this dress in the slightest~~ was festive and fun and probably not what Belle was wearing tonight.

Perish the thought.

"Hey Libby!" Kurt said with a smile. "You look really nice too!" Kurt really tried not to stare. He knew how uncomfortable Libby was at things like this- even more than he was. And he didn't want to make her feel any more uneasy. But it WAS a beautiful dress and she DID look very nice in it. "I'm glad you made it," he said with a smile.

It was a very expensive dress, and that, for her, was the hardest part about wearing it. She felt caught somewhere between being too afraid to move for fear of ruining it somehow and wanting to really get the most out of it because of its cost....despite not knowing what that would even mean.

"Well," she said with a small laugh and a grin to match, "there's really only one thing I would miss it for, and that got cancelled tonight, so...."

"Same really, but we can always make our own adventure. Here at homecoming" he said with a grin. "Sampling new foods, meeting fellow travelers, enjoying strange customs, it is sort of like a mini version of our normal game night story."

Was Kurt trying to put Libby's mind at ease? Or was he trying to convince himself there was no reason to feel nervous about being here? Probably a little bit of both.

And if there was any way to wrap Libby's attention right up in a good distraction, it would be with a good story. Her grin brightened at the perspective Kurt was spinning into, taking a moment to look around before leaning into it...and maybe leaning a little more toward Kurt, too...with her own speculations.

"Along the way to our destination," she proposed, "we found a small, strange commotion, and halted in the journey to check it out. I mean, clearly, this place is enchantated. All this glitter? Must be some sort of fairy realm..."

"A gathering for royalty and the well-to-do obviously from the looks of the garments," Kurt contained, a somewhat sly grin spreading as he continued. "And clearly enchanted because," here he paused for dramatic effect and then looked down at his clothes, then to Libby, and pointed in mock surprise. "Even our own clothes have changed into ones much more suited for a grand celebration than for traveling the wilds. It's almost as if.... we were meant to be here for this celebration."

"Hey, Guillermo!" Kurt said when he caught sight of his roomie. Though they were roommates he had been seeing less of Guillermo with him hanging out with Graham more often. So Kurt was glad he was there. "Glad you made it! Quite impressive isn't it? I've never been to a homecoming before" he admitted.

Belle was certainly not wearing what Tahani was. How very dare.

No, Belle had on a fun black dress she'd found on a shopping excursion while in France. An excursion that had not involved Five because could you even imagine him sitting outside a fitting room?

Vi was wearing her same all-black suit, shir, and tie from prom, because it wasn't like she needed a whole need outfit or anything, though she had added those braces she'd picked up in crime class to the outfit.

Stark didn't have to chaperone tonight. And he was an alum so he could be at the dance no matter what. He was still going to hang out near some other adults (maybe even with a date).

He had on one of the shirts (slightly shiny and a deep rust color) that his stylist had picked out on their shopping trip in Paris. But no suit today.

Maybe with a date? Definitely with a date!

“You’re just going to drag me along on all your chaperone duties now, huh,” Travis teased. (His gray-blue suit complemented Stark’s rust red nicely.)

Stark turned and gave him a considering look. "Drag you along? I don't remember any dragging."
