Stark Industries, Friday

Well, everything was incredibly weird, but they had an idea on how to fix it! Kind of. It just involved building a time machine to send people back to the nexus point for all these changes and guests.

If they put their heads together and didn't end up in a fist fight or something, it'd be fine!

Right? Right.

At the very least, there was the best equipment that Tony could get to the island on short notice in addition to his usual lab supplies. Just. You know. No one travel back to the 50's to live there, completely breaking the pre-established rules of time travel.

"Wasn't it Edison who said he first found ten thousand ways not to make a lightbulb?" Irene noted with a slight, encouraging smile. "You just need one right answer. There's a million wrong ones. And with your brain on the job, it's going to come together."

She meant that absolutely sincerely. The other geniuses here were probably all quite bright, too, but Amaya's particular...creativity combined with tenacity combined with that confidence seemed like it would be very useful in this application.

"Wasn't Edison also the one that stole a bunch of ideas from other inventors, too?" asked Amaya, with a bit of a grin. "Although what's a little borrowing here and there, so long as it works in the end. And it's just a time machine; how hard could it be?"

"Right -- no one's got to reinvent the wheel," Irene replied, because she was so an Edison and not a Tesla. "No harm in a little borrowing. And please. I'm sure you could make a time machine in your sleep."

Maybe a little hard to work around the CPAP machine if she had it hooked up, but still.

"You'll say if you need another set of hands?" she added, since Irene really wasn't here just to be pretty and drink coffee, and would eventually help.

"If I could," Amaya pointed out, with a gesture around everyone hard at work, "then we wouldn't be in this mess, now, would we?"

She met more the mess of all the confusion and the invaders, of course, though it did extend to the respectably untidy state of Tony's lab to begin with, a state she herself could only approve of.

And she didn't sound too distraught about it, either, because if they weren't in this mess, then she wouldn't have a chance to subtly sort of scope out both his set-up and all his shiny little whatzits and doodads. Speaking of borrowing...

As for the rest, she nodded assuringly , but still asked, "No new fancy manicure or anything like that to be worried about?"

And Irene was pretty good at being pretty and drinking coffee, if you got right down to it.

Look, clearly Amaya's brilliant brain just hadn't been given enough time. Though there did seem to be plenty of room for teamwork here, even if teamwork was usually just a code, in Irene's opinion, for, 'Let someone else do the heavy lifting.'

But. That being said -- sometimes she was willing to consider a broader definition when it came to people she particularly liked.

"Nothing I'm not willing to sacrifice for the greater good," Irene assured her, and she'd even go so far as to potentially muss up her hair or rip a stocking if the occasion truly called for it. It did seem to be an all-hands situation, after all. "I can think of no better reason than victory over hideous 90s French tips than to get a touchup, anyway."
