Summer was offended, and Tino was sulking, so, in other words, things were pretty much business as usual at Caritas that Wednesday, and the particular source of Summer's irritation was that, now that there was a new employee, Tino seemed to think that made Summer and him new besties that needed to dish about the newbie.

"No, Tino," said Summer, "I am not going to gossip about and talk shit about Jane with you. I like Jane. Better than I like you, that's for sure."

Even if knowing that Jane was working here made Summer want to start considering actually working more long sleeved shirts into her wardrobe to save her inferior bare arms the embarrassment.

Steven looked back, just as fond. "You're the best part of all of it, Llew. I promise."

"Never been that," Watts said. "The best part, I mean."

Dangerous, yes. Worth the risk (until he wasn't), yes. But not the best part of anything.

"You are to me," Steven said. He slipped one arm around Llewellyn's, giving it a hug. "You're my sunlight, remember?"

"I know you keep saying I'm a poet, but you've a way with words yourself, Steven Grant," Watts told him.

A pleased blush touched Steven's cheeks. "You inspire me, Llewellyn Watts. It's what happens when my heart is safe in your hands."

"It's very precious to me, you're very precious to me," Watts said firmly. "And thus, a task I take very seriously."

Steven's blush was not going away any time soon. But it was a happy one. "I'm very lucky then. You take such good care of it. And me. Hope I do half as well taking care of you."

"You do, you know," Watts told him. "I've never been happier- never knew I could be this happy. That's your doing."

"I'm happy about that, then," Steven said. "That I can make you happy. That you like me to be happy. It's nice. Being picked by you."

There were other things too, like how Steven made him feel he could express his own needs, set boundaries and have them respected, but those were- harder to put into words. "It's true," Watts nodded. "I do like you. Very much so."

"I like you too," Steven said. He smiled. "In fact - I mean it's early. People I'd like to say hello to. But maybe later you could walk me home?"

That long, long distance.

"And here I was, hoping to ask you if you'd mind terribly walking me home," Watts said.

"Oh, well then here I've interrupted you, haven't I?" Steven said. He motioned for Llewellyn to continue. "Go on then."

"Once we've finished our drinks, of course," he said, holding up his own still half-full wine glass, "and had enough of conversation. It would please me very much if you would walk me home."

"And I would be honored and pleased to walk you home," Steven said. He gave Llewellyn's arm another hug. "I was hoping to be the one you chose to do it."

"There's not a soul whose company I would prefer above yours for such a walk," Watts told him.
