The Magpie Emporium; Friday [02/10].

The counter that day was cluttered with a wide variety of sheets and papers, charts and graphs, maps, dice, books, and a calculator.

It would, of course, be a fair guess to assume he was deeply entrenched in cooking up something truly epic and amazing for his tabletop group, but.....nope. You'd be wrong.

He was, instead, trying to figure out exactly what on Earth (quite literally!) he was going to do for his and Charlie's Valentine's Day date.

At least up until the point where Saffron decided that right in the middle of all his plotting and planning was exactly the spot she needed to plop down on, stretch out, and take a good long nap.

Which was annoying, at first, but, in retrospect, Graham would come to realize that the cat may very well have been doing him a huge favor after all.

The Magpie Emporium is open!

The guy with the funny hat is very excited to see what snacks you have to bring to the table this week! All that research and flailing and fretting can really work up an appetitite!

"Hey Graham! How's it going?" Kurt asked as he walked in, food offerings in hand. "Hope you are in a snacky mood because I brought chips and salsa tonight!"

"Hey, Kurt!" Graham grinned as he waved a hand in the air to greet him, and then he had to chuckle. "When am I not in a snacky mood? Chips and salsa sound great! How's it going? Have you been having a good week?"

"Things are good," Kurt said with a grin. "Busy trying to figure out what to do for Libby... For Valentine's Day," he added with a shy grin. "It's the first time I've ever done anything like this, so.... Feeling a little overwhelmed."

Kurt figured Graham might understand a bit how that felt. "Are you and Charlie doing anything special?"

Kurt might have already been able to guess Graham's answer to that question well before he even asked it, at the mere mention of Valentine's Day sent some of that red that usually resided in his ears and on his nose over his cheeks a little, with a sheepish little glance back toward the store where all his machinations had occurred earlier. He gave a little chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Uh, y-yeah," he said. "We are, but, uh, I haven't quite figured it out yet, either. I've got some ideas, and I think I might be narrowing in on something, but, yeah, no, I totally get that! It's hard, trying to think of something really special and epic, especially when it's a holiday I didn't even know about before last week!"

He then gave Kurt a hopeful look. "But what were you thinking? For...for you and Libby?"

Maybe it could help him finalize some of his own ideas!

Libby was there, of course, with her usual snack tray of veggies and dip, but she'd also brought some of the apple turnovers she'd made in baking class yesterday. They weren't exactly pastry-case worthy, appearance wise, but they tasted pretty good and she was pretty proud of them, actually.

Graham's eyes widened a little bit as he saw Libby settling into her spot with more than just the usual snacks for Triumph to enjoy later.

"Libby," he said, very seriously, with that undercurrent of excitement in there and his eyes wide and excited. "Libby. Liberty Hazlett, did you honestly just waltz right in here with...with...."

He was almost too afraid to say it, as if the word would dispel illusion and the magic and leave them with nothing more than celery and jicama sticks.

"....pastries??"

"They are," Libby confirmed, unable to help giggling a little bit at Graham's enthusiasm, beaming softly with pride for her work. "Turnovers, to be exact. I made them in baking class yesterday. Would you like some?"

She was already holding out the container for him, because she already knew the answer.

Kurt would give Libby a shy smile and wave when he caught her eye. They might have been officially dating and all....but he knew this was all newer for Libby than it was for him. And he didn't want to make her uncomfortable or anything with too much PDA. So. He left it at that to let her decide what she was comfortable with around their friends.

And, as far as Libby was concerned, even if they were officially dating and all, she didn't see why that should change anything about how they interacted with each other at the game table, and so she met that smile and wave with a bright one of her own.

"Hi, Kurt."

And holding out her box of pastries.

"Apple turnover?"

You know.... Overthinking this was a skill!

"Oh yes please, these look amazing"Kurt said as he took one then took a bite. "And they taste amazing as well!"

"Oh, good," Libby said, with a small laugh and an extra emphasis on her relief. "It would be terrible if they weren't either! But I made them yesterday in class. I'm pretty proud of how they turned out."

Not perfect in a lot of ways, but perfect where it counted, she felt, in taste and ambition.

Vi'd brought a bunch of pizza, because it seemed like an evening to bring something approaching actual food to the table.

"Graham."

"Vi," said Graham, who very clearly only had eyes for the pizza at that moment.

"It's like you read my mind!"

Forget the fact that he made his desire for pizza very clear on the radio that morning.

And the fact that there was a pretty good chance that he was thinking about pizza in general at any given moment on any given day.

"I figured it might go down well," Vi said. Because who didn't like pizza?

"It will go down very well," Graham assured her, eagerly, looking like he was already tasting the pizza now as they spoke, and his stomach may have let out of faintest rumble of agreement. Chuckling sheepishly, Graham rubbed the back of his neck.

"How've you been, though, Vi? Have you had a good week?"

Guillermo had somehow managed to take it easy with the cooking after the last couple of weeks but he did still have a few containers of food to bring over, namely a cinnamon pie, custard pie and he’d also decided to try his hand at making chocolate cupcakes, “hi,” he smiled as he entered.

Jo was running a little late that evening but she still had her usual boxes of chocolates and sweets, “hello, sorry I’m late,” she said rather apologetically.
