Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Steven was pleased to see there wasn't too much work waiting for him when he got to the Museum that day. The usual amounts of mail sorting and updating records, but nothing too bad for him having had a day off last week.

He supposed that was a benefit of working in a Museum on a small island like this. Also a benefit of having an understanding boss who didn't yell when you needed a day off, or showed up a bit late, or forgot what day it was entirely.

As such, Steven was not only in his usual spot behind the Welcome Desk as he got his work done, but he was absent mindedly humming a song to himself as he did. Good moods did that to a person.

"Very true," Watts agreed. "He'll miss getting to do that so often. As will I."

"But... surely happy to be back home, with his own things, yeah?" Steven said. One's own home had to be more comfortable, didn't it?

For cats, of course.

"He's plenty of his own things at your place," Watts pointed out. Some of which had been specifically purchased for him this week, even!

"I mean I do like him to be comfortable when he's there," Steven said. "Home away from home, I suppose. All the way across the corridor."

"I get the feeling if we ask him, your place is just an extension of his own domain," Watts said, amused.

"Well," Steven said, shyly stirring his stew. "I certainly don't mind him thinking so. If he does."

The cat.

Of course the cat, who else would Steven be speaking of?

"It's unfortunate he can't reach the doorknobs on his own, of course," Watts said. "Otherwise he'd be letting himself in whenever he pleases."

Who indeed?

"Shame we can't give him some sort of way of opening doors," Steven said. "The ones that are locked. So he knows he could come in even if he's not planning to spend every night there."

“Just to say hello, you mean?” Watts mused. “Or perhaps to bring over a treat he wished to share.”

Again, totally speaking of the cat.

"For example," Steven said, because of course a cat would want to do such things. "Or curl up and take a nap while watching telly."

“Certainly couldn’t do that at his own place,” Watts remarked. “As there’s no television set.”

[hasaknightjob]

"He does have a fireplace though," Steven said. "That's very cozy. If perhaps he wanted company while enjoying it."

Perhaps not temperature wise given how warm it was outside but luckily this particular fireplace could be set to show visuals only.
