Raiden wasn't really thinking about what it meant or didn't mean that he hadn't had kids show up this past weekend. He'd gone several centuries without having kids (for multiple reasons), after all, it wasn't like he was expecting them to happen any time soon.

"Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizza," Aoife said, bouncing through the door with Steve right behind her.

"That's what we have!" Raiden agreed enthusiastically. "And calzones and stuff, but we all know it's all about the pizza, right?"

"Totally," Aoife said, nodding. "My dads tried to run an Italian restaurant for about three seconds."

Steve blinked. "We did?"

"Then you sold it to Kamekona," she said, nodding.

"It's a lot of work," Raiden said sympathetically to Steve. "Between the budget and the customers and the figuring out what to do with random shipments of cricket flour..."

Was that...was that not a normal restaurant problem?

"Cricket flour?" Steve repeated over Aoife's "ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww."

"Oh, it's gone now," Raiden assured him. "It wasn't real popular with the customers so I had to use it all up myself."

"Thanks for taking one for the team, Raiden," Steve said, laughing.

"Apparently insects are the way of the future," Raiden said. "Climate change and all that." Please stop with that, humans. Raiden had to live on this planet. "Anyway, they're not on the menu today. Instead I tried to make it kid-friendly!"

"Which one sounds good to you, Aoife?" Steve asked the kid, who looked very seriously at the offerings.

"Sloppy Joe. Danno will yell louder about the other ones."

Rey walked in, and for the first time she looked a little doubtful at the specials.

"Rey, hi!" Raiden said with a wave, happily oblivious to her doubts. "How's it goin'?"

"Quieter than a lot of people," she said. "What about you?"

"Oh, same," he agreed. "Although kids do love pizza, so...there's that."

"Had today been fun there?" she asked, as the kind of person who'd think kids in a pizza place was fun.

"Oh, yeah, it's been great! I had a lot of fun coming up with specials for kids...modern kids, I mean. When I was a kid things were really different. Pizza hadn't been invented yet, for one thing." Sad, dark times.

"Well, that's sad," Rey says, like she hadn't discovered pizza when she was 15.
