Trooper Station, Friday

The Troopers today were snacking on something called Doritos, which Ralph explained they'd acquired yesterday. Apparently it had been- some sort of holiday or festival where eating these was considered part of the festivities?

Well. In any case, there were Troopers with cheese dust on their gloves and helmets today. No, Watts didn't know why or how it was on their helmets when obviously they needed to remove them to eat.

He was just going to be in his office, sitting on his desk and working on his Chinese writing exercises while very much not spoiling his appetite for lunch with either the chips or the pretzel that was currently in his jacket pocket.

"Foolish, maybe?" Steven replied in kind.

“Utterly so,” Watts confirmed.

"I would be honored if you made lunch for me," Steven said, since now that the greater point was made he didn't want the rest to go unanswered. "Chuffed to bits."

"Excellent," Watts said. "And- making a meal together? In London? You would still care to do that as well?"

"Oh yes," Steven said. "Looking forward to it, actually. Though, fair warning, my kitchen there's not as kitted out as here. I mean you've been there, you've seen it."

Steven ate a lot of takeaway in London.

He had a pie plate and a rolling pin, at the very least!

"We can take an inventory once we arrive there," Watts said. "Late next week, perhaps? If Mr. Blathers is amenable to you taking a day off?"

"He's been so kind before, can't imagine there'd be issues now," Steven said, smiling at Llewellyn's way of saying Blathers's name. "I'll ask come Monday. When would you like to go?"

"I thought- Wednesday morning?" Watts said. "Marc and I could get the meetings out of the way first thing, and then you and I could have the remainder of the week to play tourist."

"Back around Sunday then?" Steven asked, just so he could have the idea of it. He took out his glasses and his mobile so he could add the days to his calendar.

Watts nodded to confirm. "If you're amenable?"

"I've no problem with it at all," Steven said. He added the end date, then put his glasses and mobile back into his pockets. "Any idea what else you'd like to do while we're there? There's loads of options."

"I know it's something we did last time as well, but- might we take in a show?" Watts asked.

Steven looked delighted at the suggestion. "Don't mind at all. Do you want to do another play or something different?"

“A proper concert might be nice?” Watts suggested. “Only- the symphony isn’t really to your tastes, is it?”

Steven had been about to suggest something when Llewellyn's question threw him. "What makes you say that?"

“I suppose I just- assumed,” Watts said. “Based on what I know of your musical tastes.”

[hasaknightjob]

"I mean I wasn't a fan of those who you liked," Steven said. "But that's only because I never listened enough to form an opinion. I've nothing against symphonies at all. I was actually going to suggest something with a string quartet for us to do."

"Oh?" Watts looked intrigued. "Tell me more?"

"There's a museum," Steven said. "Not mine, the V&A. They do something where certain evenings they have performances, you see. So you go about the museum and you can hear people playing music. I thought - I thought that might be nice for us?"

"You're right, that does sound interesting," Watts said. "And such a performance is scheduled for the time that we would be there?"

"They do it Fridays," Steven said. "So yeah, looks like. If we're going late week. That - that doesn't mean we can't do a show as well. Don't mind doing music twice."

"I do miss it," Watts said. "Live music, that is. Don't get me wrong, the sheer amount of recorded media available in this time is phenomenal, but..." he trailed off.

It wasn't the same.

"I'd love to go to a symphony with you," Steven said. "There's the London Philharmonic. We could see if they've got any shows on while we're there."

"Yes, yes, please, that would be- absolutely delightful," Watts beamed at him.

Steven smiled back. "I'll have to pack a suit. Make sure I'm properly dressed."
