Charlie was here, though for most of the morning Aunties (and her mother) were calling to ask her what she thought she was doing, signing up for a class where she might have to cook something. (It was a class about pizza!) Was she insane? (Not yet, but if people kept calling...) Was she trying to get smart with them? (No, ma'am, just trying to - yes, she'd be quiet and listen.)

By mid morning she'd had all she could take of it. She put a "Back in ten minutes" sign on the door, jogged down to the beach and threw her phone as far as she could into the ocean, before returning to the store.

Near the end of the day a dripping package was brought in special delivery. She could hear it ringing through the packaging, and all she could do was sigh and answer her very wet phone. "Hello, Auntie."
