Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Steven was in his usual spot behind the Welcome Desk. He had his glasses on and was scrolling through the pictures he'd taken of Shenanigans the previous day.

In theory he was debating if any of the pictures were worth turning into a display for the history section of the Museum. In reality he was having a hard time focusing as his thoughts kept turning to things that had come up for him on the weekend.

He didn't want his thoughts to linger there, though, so he did what he could to try to shake it off and stay on task.

He wasn't always successful.

“You were kind, and patient, and charming,” Watts informed him. “Still are.”

Steven wrapped his arm around the front of Llewellyn's chest. "You are kind, and loving, and thoughtful, and you love me not in spite of all the things wrong with me."

"As you do me," Watts pointed out. "You're not perfect. But you are perfect for me."

Steven closed his eyes, letting Llewellyn's words wash over him. Then, softly, eyes still closed, he asked, "Even if I - if so much of me isn't real?"

"Even if your memories of your past aren't real," Watts said. "I love who you are now. I love trying new things with you, watching you discover whether you enjoy them or not. It's beautiful, and wonderful, and I feel immensely privileged to be invited on this journey with you."

Wetness touched Steven's eyes. He kept them closed so it didn't get worse, even though this time it was due to good emotions.

"Thank you," he said, still soft. "For loving me."

"It's easy because it's you," Watts told him. "My darling Gentleman Knight."

Steven smiled. "My detective. Who'd scour the world for me if he had to."

"I would," Watts confirmed. "In a heartbeat."

Steven lifted his head up so that Llewellyn could see the smile that meant he was joking. "Might take you a little longer than that. Maybe two heartbeats. It is a lot of people."

Watts smiled back at him. "I meant of course that I would go on this quest in a heartbeat," he said. "But you are right. I wouldn't want to be hasty."

"Oh, I see," Steven said, pretending this was a revelation. He rest his forehead against Llewellyn's. "Could I go with you? I wouldn't want to be without you that long."

"I wouldn't care for it either," Watts said. "We could travel the world, have all sorts of adventures together. Make friends along the way. That's probably a much better way to go about it than me bringing them home to you and presenting them like debutantes at a coming-out ball, anyway."

The image startled a laugh out of Steven. "Be murder on your budget. All those airline tickets."

"Precisely," Watts said, pleased with himself over having made Steven laugh. "And yet I might have done it if not for your far more practical solution."

"Picturing you as an announcer on a game show now," Steven admitted. "Introducing each one like a new contestant."

"A game show?" Watts echoed. "Is that some sort of 'reality television'?"

"Sort of, yeah," Steven said. "It's real in that it's not scripted like a movie. It's where people are filmed playing different sorts of games for prizes, like cars or money. Could be they answer trivia questions, or solve puzzles, that sort of thing."

“And people find watching that to be entertaining?” Watts asked, puzzled.

"It's like sport," Steven said. "They root for people they like. Some games, like the trivia ones, they try to play at home. See if they can get more answers than the contestants do."

“I see,” Watts said. “There was a cooking competition some years ago in Toronto that was held in a park so as to encourage spectators. I suppose that’s a similar sort of idea.”

"Yes," Steven said, pointing at Llewellyn to show he was getting the idea. "That's one type as well. Anything that could be a competition, really. They have ones for clothing, singing, dancing, all sorts."

“Mmm, I prefer fiction or the documentary shows myself,” Watts said. “Though I suppose that’s nice for the people who that sort of thing appeals to.”

"Me as well," Steven said. "But some people like it. You'd be a charming host. But you're a charming everything."

“From your perspective,” Watts said. “But then,” he added. “Yours,” he placed a quick kiss on Steven’s lips, “is the one that matters to me most.”
