Summer knew she was in for a fun time when her evening at the bar was getting started with Tino trying to bait her into getting into online discourse.

"Literally no one is going to call it that," she insisted. "Stop it."

But, honestly, really, what did she expect from someone with a blue checkmark, anyway?

“Good evening, Miss Smith,” Watts greeted, twirling down into his seat with his usual flourish.

And Summer met that usual greeting and usual flourish with her usual stately nod. "Good evening, Detective Watts," she said. "What can we get for your somewhat weekly visit to one of the island's fine drinking establishments this time?"

“A chardonnay tonight, if you please,” Watts replied. “And how are you tonight?”

"Chardonnay," Summer nodded, before her head tilted, and she considered some options, quirking a brow at Watts briefly to see if he had any other specifications to add, before frowning slightly.

Man, chardonnay labels were boring as fuck, but this one always made her do a double-take, and so that was going to be what she was picking and pouring tonight.

"And I'm pretty good, thank you! How about yourself?"

“Well enough,” Watts acknowledged. Minus the nagging feeling regarding possible missing persons, anyway. “The, ah ‘baby shower’ last week was put together nicely,” he offered.

"Awww, thank you!" said Summer, brightly, always pleased to take on a bit of a well-earned compliment to her very fine work. "I'm glad you were able to come! Sorry I didn't get to thank you the day of, but I got kind of busy running the thing. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Did you have a good time?"

“I did, yes,” Watts confirmed.

At a certain point Steven came over to see his beau. "Hello, you."

“Hello, you,” Watts returned the greeting with a smile, nodding at the empty chair beside him.

"I was going to ask if this seat was taken," Steven said as he took the offered spot. He grinned at Llewellyn. "Oh look, there you are in the right place."

“Strange how that worked out, hm?” Watts winked.

"It's even the right side now," Steven said with a grin.

Because Llewellyn was to his right, you see.

“Utterly incorrigible, you are,” Watts said, shaking his head.

"You like it," Steven said, smugly. Because he liked that Llewellyn liked it. "So how's your day been?"

“Improved now that you are here with me,” Watts said. “Not that anything was particularly amiss before, just,” he shrugged one shoulder. “Unremarkable.”

Besides the nagging worry at the back of his mind regarding potentially missing people.

"Same," Steven said. "Marc went to the pub last night. Chatted with a few people."

Which didn't sound like much but both Llewellyn and Steven knew that was actually a big deal for Marc.

“Oh, good,” Watts said approvingly. “New people? Or those he knew already?”

"Lucifer and Atton," Steven said. "Don't know if you remember but we met Atton in Lana's class?"

Llewellyn had been rather drunk at the time so it was possible the details of that excursion were fuzzy.

Watts frowned, trying to recall. “Surly-looking fellow?” he came up with, after a moment.

"That's the one," Steven said. "Marc had a chat with him last night. That's good for him."

“Makes sense that they’d get along, certainly,” Watts nodded.

"Doesn't it?" Steven said, because yeah, pretty much. "See, that's why I'm wondering if he just needs to meet the right sort of people. Ones he's got things in common with. But good things. Not the parts we're trying to get him away from."

Like the killing.

Atton was maybe not the best choice in that respect, then, not that any of them knew that.

“Unobjectionable company,” Watts said with a small smile, as that was the phrase he himself used with Marc.

"Precisely," Steven said. "Small steps with him. But he's been trying. Well, not actively trying but the result is much the same."

“He’s not refusing to engage,” Watts said. “That’s close enough.” Well, on a scale of Marc at least.
