Prom 2024, Community Center, Friday Evening

This year's prom theme was "A Museum Night" - the Community Center's walls were covered in replicas of beautiful paintings along with some originals that matched the general flower theme. The paintings were safe, but the frames had some glitter on them, because of course they did.

There was a variety of moddable food and drinks which currently seemed untainted, and the dance floor was open for a fabulous time!

The tunic that Graham's mother sent him for tonight had also included a new cloak, although, to be fair, the new cloak was exactly like the old cloak only now it had a fancy new red border on it! And the feather in his cap was especially sparkly tonight!

FANCY!

But fanciest of all was, of course, Triumph, who Graham had somehow managed to ride into the community center to make his arrival, grinning from ear to ear as he waved his hand in greeting to everyone, while Triumph, snout lifted proudly, trotted along in the fancy new clothes that Graham had made for him yesterday to match, which included his own cloak and a lot of other fancier details that are just going to have to be left to the imagination!

"Graham!" Unlike Eleanor and Libby, Arden felt comfortable enough to offer Graham a hug to go along with the compliments she was about to hand out. "Oh goddess, you look so good! Is that a new tunic? It's very dashing!"

Libby still had trouble knowing what to wear to these things, so she challenged Zo to actually pick something out for her. Risky, but she trusted Zo a lot, and she half expected her to defy tradition and pick out something like a suit for her! Which would be pretty interesting!

But no, it was a gown and it was bold but also modest enough that she didn't feel too uncomfortable, and she did really like it, it just might take her a little bit to warm up to being so fancy, but once she saw everyone else, that would definitely help.

And 'live texting' with Zo for a lot of it, too!

Arden had mostly recovered from Dean's entire existence by the time she stepped in the community center, as the gentlest of breezes made her gown ripple slightly before settling to swish around her feet (thanks for the idea, Boc!)

Finding herself in fancy clothes would forever give Eleanor a knot in her stomach, a pain in her chest, but she went out yesterday to find a nice dress that she felt would make even Luma proud of her, and she...thought she succeeded? Clothes of this time period were pretty different from her own, but some silhouettes (both her sister and grandmere would agree!) were just timeless...

However, looking good and feeling good, in this case, were too very diametrically opposed things existing in her all at once, and a part of her just wished Arthur could see her like this...

It had not occurred to Lydia to pack more than one ball gown, nor had it occurred to her to purchase a brand new dress for a different event--well, it had occurred to her, but not as something realistic--so she was wearing the same dress she had worn to Mr. Stark's party the week before, although she had changed how she did her hair, of course.

The DJ had a wide variety of music playing, and there were plenty of slow songs for dancing close with that special someone, now with fewer worries about somehow making children out of that situation!

Chaperones [Prom 24]

Atton did not dance.

But he did skulk around in the chaperone area, sipping (alcohol-free) punch and eyeing the rest of the prom. He was contemplating a 'is it just me or do the kids look older every year' joke, but he hadn't made it yet.

Anyway, if you expected anything fancier out of him than a leather jacket and a t-shirt, you were very silly indeed.

Obviously, Summer was going to chaperone for Prom. Less obviously, she was not in pink, thank you very much, opting instead for something a bit darker for once that was clearly playing to her audience, but you know what? Sometimes you just had to mix it up a little and subvert a few expectations.

Stark had been told to try and coordinate with Summer on his own, without help from his stylist. He thought he'd done well with the suit.

He'd pulled out his black mask for the occasion as well.

It had been a while since he had been out and about for more than class. It felt good, but also a bit odd, to be around so many people again. So, for the time being, Connor was sticking to the edges of the room just watching, waiting for Cutter to join him. He had on something nice, not too overly dressy, but still fitting for the chaperoning duties he was pulling that night.

Jon was doing his duty as the (nominal) Fun Professor by showing up to prom. He only had the one suit, but it had always worked before, so he was in it again.

Lana was happy to chaperone, and was here in a classy grey dress that was loose enough at the bottom to hide both her sensible boots and the lightsaber strapped to her leg.

Zoe came up to the microphone with an armful of crowns and tiaras, because she didn't want to leave any options behind for anyone.
