Town Hall, Saturday Morning

"This," Jesse sighed, looking up at Margo with serious eyes, "Is going to mean so much paperwork."

The Magician rolled her eye, and placed her hand flat down on the desk. "Yeah, yeah, we can deal with the bureaucracy later," she said. "Well. You can. I plan to spend the rest of next week at Theodoric's."

Jesse ran her fingers along her hairline, and... reached for the microphone that connected the island-wide PA-system with the radio. She leaned in.

"Hi, Fandom? This is Jesse Faden speaking. Uh. The mayor. I know we're dealing with an invasion situation right now, and in order to fix it, we need some creative problem-solvers with good, uh, creative skills to come over to Town Hall right now, okay?"

Beat.

"Apparently we have to write our way out of this one. Or macramé. Any talent will do, honestly."

Steven had been uncertain. The concept of writing, of creative acts bringing things to life, had been hanging over him as too close to home and too much responsibility besides.

But then again that was the power of stories, was it not? To inspire? To give hope for something better?

So when the call went out Steven screwed up his courage and headed over. If he could help by trying to be creative in some fashion - well, had to try, right?

Once he arrived he looked around to see what he was meant to do next.

Before Dean headed to the playground, he went to the town hall and while there he spotted… well one of two people in the same body.

“Hey, Marc? Steven? I got a favor to ask. I’m heading out to fight whatever this is. And if I don’t make it back there’s a leather journal on my desk. Inside the cover is an address. I’ll need you to mail it there for me.”

“Well, it wouldn’t be the first time for me but I’d like to avoid it if at all possible,” Dean said, giving Steven a hand for a handshake. “Just tell a good story or whatever and we’ll see how it ends.”

Steven took that hand for a shake. "Fight a good fight. Hopefully we'll both see each other safe and sound at home this evening.

It wasn't as though Irene had all that much else to do, honestly. And part of her had been wondering if at some point, as the days drew on, whether she'd be attacked by...you know, shuriken she'd previously admired, or pretty woven hairpieces, or even the Lady Crumbler herself, so it also wasn't as though she was particularly driven to her other means of distracting oneself at the week-end.

"Creative, huh?" That word felt a bit loaded, somehow, when Irene said it upon arrival today.

...it helped significantly that Captain America hadn't checked up on him since Thursday.

"I'm not much of a writer, but I can think on my feet," Anakin said, sweeping in with his lightsaber on his hip after his time at the radio station.

And his banthabell carefully hidden in his cloak. For absolute emergencies.

Lana was all about trying to fix things. She'd never had to do that with her poetry before, though.

She still wasn't sure precisely how this was supposed to work, but she'd do what she could.

"Here for some writing myself," Steven said. "Fiction, mostly. Er - hopefully? Bit of writer's block of late, suppose you could say. But if ever there's a time to try it's when writing might help people, yeah?"

Well, one of the offices in the back, anyway. Not too far from the stairs to the basement, but that's a worry for another time.

Anakin closed his eyes and reached into the Force. "I'm not sure there's a particular mind attached to this. Let's just start with general and pinpoint as we go along? What do we need for a story besides a hero and a happy ending?"

Steven had pen and paper and his glasses ready so he could actually see whatever he ended up writing. He looked thoughtful as he tried to imagine where to start.
