Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was fully in party-planning mode, which was basically putting up flyers in town and on the front door of the bar, and also cleaning the house which felt a little sisyphean with a five-year-old, and maybe she could just play in one area and keep the mess contained this week? (No, that was ridiculous.)

Tino still seemed excited about it, and so she was also trying to make it sound like a bad idea. She didn't think it was working.

Well, Jane promised her buddy a drink after his class, so here she was. Ready to fulfill that promise and maybe talk about the whole... weirdness.

"Hi, Kitty."

[throughaphase]

"Hey, Jane," Kitty greeted her. "How's it going?"

[needsacatchphrase]

"Ask me again after I've talked with my teaching buddy," Jane said with a strained little laugh.

[throughaphase]

"Uh oh. What's wrong with your teaching buddy?"

She never got any good gossip anymore.

[needsacatchphrase]

"Oh no, he's very nice, it's just that I think we're having some streams crossed in knowing some version of each other?"

Normal Marvel things.

"Ahh, that makes sense." Did it? "Can I get you something while you tell me that story?"

"How about a glass of wine?" Ooo, fancy.

"I'm not sure anyone's ever asked for that before ," Kitty admitted. "Red or white?"

She had a guess.

"Maybe we need to refresh the stock." What, by drinking it? "White, please."

"Jane," Don greeted her as he approached the bar. "Hi, there."

"Hi," Jane said, offering him a quick smile and turning a little to face him. "Survived your first class?"

"Oh, yeah, it was great," Don said. "Lot of different backgrounds, but I guess that's to be expected. I've got one kid from the future and one who said she uses homeopathic remedies--I'm hoping she meant herbal stuff and not 'I waved a piece of willow bark over this water so now it's the same as an aspirin.' You?" He tried to remember the schedule. "No, wait, yours didn't happen yet, right?"

"Thursday," Jane replied, nodding and looking sympathetic at the homeopathic thing. "I'm hoping to not leave covered in glitter, but..."

"It's arts and crafts," Don pointed out, sounding like he already felt bad for her and all her glitter. "I think I'm still getting it out of my hair from the airport lounge Saturday." And he'd been to the void and back twice since then, Jane!

The void couldn't save you, Don. Nothing could save you.

"The school is big on the glitter," she replied, knowing it'd just be her life this summer. "Wait until you see a dance."

"I'll be looking forward to it," he lied, like a liar. "I'm not much for dancing, but I'm sure they'll need chaperones..." But if there was more glitter? Yikes.

Jane snorted into her drink at that. "I heard you've got a place to stay?"

Don had already gotten--through Thor's ears, at least--an impression of the other bar, which meant he was interested to see this one with his own eyes.

"Huh," he said after surveying the place for a moment. "Those are zombies." They sure were!

"They sure are," Kitty agreed. "Totally safe, though. A little pushy when they want you to buy their CDs."

"They have CDs?"

Of course they did, Don. What kind of band didn't have CDs?

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, I think it's because they're not on Spotify," she said. "Their second album is the best. After that you can really see where the group has differing ideas."

"Spotify?"

I am not familiar.

"I will...keep that in mind," Don said. How much he meant it was anyone's guess. "Hi. Don Blake. I'm new in town."

[throughaphase]

"Kitty Pryde-Barton," she said with a smile. "You one of the new teachers?"

[ifwebeworthy]

"Right, the X-Man who's married to Clint," Don agreed. Because he was from a universe that had both those things, although not in that combination. "Although I don't know if you're an X-Man any more..." Maybe no, if she lived in Maryland and worked here, but he didn't know her life. "And I am, yeah. I'm teaching First Aid right now."

Kitty made a so-so gesture. "Semi-retired, though every time I say that they call me back in. You know the X-Men, huh?"
