Caritas- Sunday afternoon into evening, I guess
Kitty had come in to do some paperwork, so she was there when the concert started. The zombies were unprepared, and their limbs and digits were going to have a workout tonight because the girl in that spangly leotard was apparently going to go through the entire Eras tour tonight.
At least Kitty had time to work up some specials, kind of. Might as well capitalize on this since she was apparently going to be here a while. Like, should she have Clint bring Lexi over?
SPECIALS
Champagne Problems (it's just champagne)
Welcome to New York (it's a Manhattan)
Red (cranberry mimosa, look this was all unexpected okay)
[Bar, because that's a LOT of stage to scroll past.]

Stage
Re: Stage
lovers. And then next thing you know, she's onstage at the zombie bar in a sparkly pastel leotard and stilettos
for milesfor some godforsaken reason. Where did she get it? No idea. Did she know how to play the guitar? No, but she apparently did today! At least she had a good voice!"Taylor" had already done a few songs by now, and was just warming up. But here was one that always went viral and one time charted on the Richter scale!
Don't chart on the Richter scale, Fandom. Who knows what you'd unearth.
"Fever dream high in the quiet of the night
You know that I caught it
Bad, bad boy
Shiny toy with a price
You know that I bought it
Killing me slow, out the window
I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below
Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes
What doesn't kill me makes me want you more
And it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got"
She held the microphone out, totally expecting people to sing along.
(Kitty would, shut up.)
"And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa oh
It's a cruel summer
With you
Hang your head low
In the glow of the vending machine
I'm not dying
You say that we'll just screw it up in these trying times
We're not trying
So cut the headlights, summer's a knife
I'm always waiting for you just to cut to the bone
Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes
And if I bleed, you'll be the last to know
Oh, it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got
And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
With you"
"All right, you guys, I know you know this one! Sing it if you know it!" Taylor called.
And really, if you didn't sing along to this part, were you even alive?
"I'm drunk in the back of the car
And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar (oh)
Said, "I'm fine, " but it wasn't true
I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you
And I snuck in through the garden gate
Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh)
And I screamed for whatever it's worth
"I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
He looks up grinning like a devil
It's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got
And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules, in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
With you"
If you didn't get the bridge the first time, now was your chance!
"I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?"
Pause for applause! There was totally applause in her head even if no one else was here.
Re: Stage
"You're on the phone with your girlfriend, she's upset
She's going off about something that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do
I'm in the room, it's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do
But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She's Cheer Captain, and I'm on the bleachers"
Honestly if Rey tried that little super, super basic cheerleading gesture in these shoes she'd probably sprain an ankle.
"Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time
If you could see that I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So, why can't you see?
You belong with me
You belong with me"
Was she encouraging a very confused zombie to come up with his bass so she could show him off while singing? Yes. Of course she was. He deserved it.
"Walk in the streets with you in your worn-out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on a park bench thinking to myself
Hey, isn't this easy?
And you've got a smile
That can light up this whole town
I haven't seen it in a while
Since she brought you down
You say you're fine, I know you better than that
Hey, what you doing with a girl like that?
She wears high heels
I wear sneakers
She's Cheer Captain, and I'm on the bleachers"
There is was again. Those were high high heels. But she didn't sprain anything and her legs looked great.
"Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time
If you could see that I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So, why can't you see?
You belong with me
Standing by and waiting at your backdoor
All this time how could you not know, baby?
You belong with me
You belong with me
Oh, I remember you driving to my house
In the middle of the night
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're 'bout to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me 'bout your dreams
Think I know where you belong
Think I know it's with me
Can't you see that I'm the one
Who understands you?
Been here all along
So, why can't you see?
You belong with me
Standing by and waiting at your backdoor
All this time how could you not know, baby?
You belong with me
You belong with me
You belong with me
Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me?
You belong with me"
Re: Stage
"Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him
Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted
But if he's a ghost, then I can be a phantom
Holdin' him for ransom
Some, some boys are tryin' too hard
He don't try at all, though
Younger than my exes but he act like such a man, so
I see nothing better, I keep him forever
Like a vendetta-ta"
Taylor began her choreography, looking back at Zombie Yoko. Was she getting in on this?
Zombie Yoko them shambled onstage behind her, trying to keep up with the moves as well as she could as a zombie backup dancer. (Which, in fairness, was more of a Look What You Made Me Do thing.) Zombie Yoko was not going to be able to keep up with this.
"I-I-I see how this is gon' go
Touch me and you'll never be alone
I-Island breeze and lights down low
No one has to know
In the middle of the night, in my dreams
You should see the things we do, baby (mmm)
In the middle of the night, in my dreams
I know I'm gonna be with you
So I'll take my time
Are you ready for it?"
Zombie Yoko was still gamely trying, for a zombie. If shambling far, far, far behind the beat could be dancing, then she was dancing.
"Knew I was a robber first time that he saw me
Stealing hearts and running off and never saying sorry
But if I'm a thief, then he can join the heist
And we'll move to an island, and
And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor"- That was her!
"Every love I've known in comparison is a failure
I forget their names now, I'm so very tame now
Never be the same now, now
I-I-I see how this is gon' go (go)
Touch me and you'll never be alone
I-Island breeze and lights down low (low)
No one has to know
(No one has to know)
In the middle of the night, in my dreams (eh)
You should see the things we do (we do), baby
In the middle of the night, in my dreams (my dreams)
I know I'm gonna be with you
So I'll take my time
Are you ready for it?
Oh, are you ready for it?
Baby, let the games begin
Let the games begin
Let the games begin (now)
Baby, let the games begin
Let the games begin
Let the games begin
I-I-I see how this is gon' go
Touch me and you'll never be alone
I-Island breeze and lights down low
No one has to know"
Taylor pointed at the drummer. This was his moment! Go for it, zombie drummer!
The zombie drummer did his best at making the next part really pop.
"In the middle of the night, in my dreams (my dreams)
You should see the things we do (we do), baby (baby, mmm, eh)
In the middle of the night, in my dreams (my dreams)
I know I'm gonna be with you
So I take my time (eh)
In the middle of the night
Baby, let the games begin
Let the games begin
Let the games begin
Are you ready for it?
Baby, let the games begin
Let the games begin
Let the games begin
Are you ready for it?"
Seriously, were you applauding? At least applaud the poor zombies.
Re: Stage
Yeah, that's right. It's a ten-minute song. And it needs to be ten minutes, all right.
"I walked through the door with you
The air was cold
But something about it felt like home somehow
And I, left my scarf there at your sister's house
And you've still got it in your drawer even now
Oh, your sweet disposition
And my wide-eyed gaze
We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days
And I know it's long gone and that magic's not here no more
And I might be okay but I'm not fine at all"
The zombies were supposed to be backing her on vocals. They weren't, for personal reasons.
"'Cause there we are again on that little town street
You almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me
Wind in my hair, I was there
I remember it all too well
Photo album on the counter
Your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-sized bed
And your mother's telling stories 'bout you on the tee-ball team
You told me 'bout your past thinking your future was me"
There was definitely more singing here, that took up more of the ten minutes.
But it's late and the lyrics site failed."And I know it's long gone and there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to
'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night
We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there
I remember it all too well, yeah
And maybe we got lost in translation
Maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there
I remember it all too well"
Oh oh oh this was the best part to really emotionally sing along to!
"And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all
Too well
Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again
But I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence
And it smells like me
You can't get rid of it
'Cause you remember it all too well, yeah
'Cause there we are again when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well"
There was absolutely, absolutely more to the song, and we're gonna handwave that you heard it all, but once she was done she looked really proud and set the guitar aside. Suck it, Jake Gyllenhaal. Give her her scarf back.
Re: Stage
Get back here, Zombie Yoko! Your services were needed!
"I stay out too late
Got nothing in my brain
That's what people say, mm-mm
That's what people say, mm-mm
I go on too many dates
But I can't make 'em stay
At least that's what people say, mm-mm
That's what people say, mm-mm
But I keep cruisin'
Can't stop, won't stop movin'
It's like I got this music in my mind
Sayin' it's gonna be alright"
If only she'd worn the leotard with the fringe. It'd look so fun with the hip-shaking.
"'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)"
Zombie Yoko was not loving this. She was doing her best but her best was not very good. Had she actually given up and Taylor just didn't notice? Should she give up if Taylor didn't notice?
"I never miss a beat
I'm lightnin' on my feet
And that's what they don't see, mm-mm
That's what they don't see, mm-mm
I'm dancin' on my own (dancin' on my own)
I make the moves up as I go (moves up as I go)
And that's what they don't know, mm-mm
That's what they don't know, mm-mm
But I keep cruisin'
Can't stop, won't stop groovin'
It's like I got this music in my mind
Sayin' it's gonna be alright
'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)
Shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)"
You might be wondering by now how she wasn't out of breath. Not a ton of dancing, but a lot of moving and dancing at the same time without a break. We're going to blame hallucinogenic gremlin venom, thank you.
"Hey, hey, hey
Just think, while you've been gettin' down and out about the liars
And the dirty, dirty cheats of the world
You could've been gettin' down to this sick beat
My ex-man brought his new girlfriend
She's like, "Oh my God!" but I'm just gonna shake
And to the fella over there with the hella good hair
Won't you come on over, baby? We can shake, shake, shake (yeah)
Yeah, oh, oh"
Yeah, Zombie Yoko was done. Zombie Yoko was just straight up moving slowly to hide behind the drummer like that might save her.
"'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate (haters gonna hate)
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break (mmm)
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake (and fake and fake and fake)
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)
Shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off (you got to)
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off"
Un! De! Terred!
Re: Stage
As for Taylor, she'd started like two hours and forty-five minutes ago with straight hair and it was nowhere near that now.
"I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room
I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(For the last time)"
And now for the part everyone felt somewhere on a personal level and that's why it'd become a meme!
"It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
At tea time, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby"
A little weird to do a sexy little move on that one but hey, if you're wearing something spangly you might as well be a sexy baby.
You secretly love that lyric, don't lie.
"And I'm a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart, but never killed
Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism
Like some kind of congressman? (Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
And life will lose all its meaning
(For the last time)"
She fully expected people to be joining in for the chorus, by the way. Would be insulted if you didn't, though to Taylor there were throngs of people who were in fact singing along. Again, hallucinogens!
"It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At tea time, everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
I have this dream my daughter in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers 'round and reads it and then someone screams out
"She's laughing up at us from hell"
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
It's me, hi, everybody agrees, everybody agrees
It's me, hi (hi), I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At tea (tea) time (time), everybody agrees (everybody agrees)
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero"
At least Kitty was applauding even if no one else was! It probably sounded like a sold-out stadium with an illegal overflow crowd in the parking lot anyway.
Bar
Re: Bar
Which is why she showed up tonight at Caritas and was surprised at both the zombies and the live show going on. She ordered a virgin margarita and sat watching all the singing and enjoying it. How nice that this person was such a fan of Taylor Swift!
