"No, no, no," Summer tried explaining to Tino for probably the tenth time as he skeptically popped another jello jelly bean into his mouth, "I made the vodka out of the rosé-flavored jelly beans, and then used that vodka to make the new jelly beans made out of jello. So I took the jelly bean that was't boozy, made booze out of it, and then made new beans that were boozy out of the booze I made from the beans that weren't boozy."

Once again, he just stared at her, but, this time, she was pretty sure there was some sort of judgement there on how she chose, apparently, to spend her time today.

"Oh, shut up," she concluded, and turned to go find something else to do that didn't involve talking to him. "People are gonna love it."

He could just stick with the other bean one instead, then.

A Jedi walked into a bar, and took her usual seat. "Do I want to know what Jello beans are?"

Summer opened his mouth to ask what she thought jello beans could possibly be, other than what they were, and then remembered she had baked beans on the specials board, too.

But she was very quickly grabbing one of the little cups of portioned out jello beans for Rey and sliding them over to her with a pleased smile.

"Probably not," she said, "because you are going to love them to a dangerous degree. They're just little bites of jello shapes like jelly beans! And these ones I actually made from a vodka that I infused with jelly beans that are meant to taste like rosé, so it's like...levels of jelly beans. Jelly bean-ception!"

Yeah. Yeah, that was entirely the reason. A person had to check.

"So you made alcoholic candy," Rey said, picking one up to try. "Though they sound like a good and also terrible idea."

The phrase 'take these away from me' would probably get used by someone tonight.

"I know, right?" Summer agreed, emphatic and proud of herself. "Which means they're perfect. Huge pain in the ass to make, but I think it's going to really be worth it."

She smiled proudly at them again and, you know what? Rey was getting a second cup of them, too, now, because let's be real....

"So how's it going?"

"Those are actually really good," she noted, grabbing a second jelly bean. "I'm all right. The trip home was interesting but probably only to me. Did I miss anything here?"

Summer squinted a little as she tried to remember. "I don't....think so?" she offered. "Seems like a pretty quiet enough weekend. I think I may have actually turned someone onto bananas and hollandaise sauce in my class, though, and I'm not sure what to think about that. But interesting how? I mean, I guess I could think of a few ways it could be only interesting to you, but now you just have me curious..."

"I was with a historian looking at some sites where Jedi artifacts were found years ago."

So, interesting to Rey, at least.

"I mean," Summer offered, "that's kind of cool, though, too, right? Old history and stuff?"

Even as she said it, Summer wasn't feeling like she was doing a good job of convincing even herself.

"Were they at least on a cool planet?"

"Not really," Rey said, and assured her, "It's all right, it's nerdy for an extremely small amount of people."

"I knooooow," Summer said, "but you're one of the extremely small amount of people who it's nerdy for, and so I want to give you the chance to nerd out about it if you want to. That's what friends are for."

"I love you," Rey told her.

"It's nothing huge. Luke spent a lot of time searching for artifacts that might tell him more about the Jedi, and he worked with Beaumont a few times. You may have met him, he was at that last battle." Being hobbits and taking all of Rose's lines. "So I got to see the areas, learn about them, practice seeing what I can feel from them."

And Summer felt that pleased little thrill that went with validation, especially of that kind, and beamed at Rey.

"Love you, too," she said. "Did you feel anything....new from them? Like, did it feel a little different because of how old they were or anything like that? Or was it just, like, same but still different?"

"It was more," Rey said thoughtfully. "You can see the echoes of objects and places, so it was practice in trying to piece together a story."
