Caritas- Tuesday

It was a holiday week, and Tino apparently had decided he wasn't going to do any more work. Kitty would ask him to do something, even as little as passing over something from the other end of the bar, and he was practically sulking about it before getting back onto his phone.

It was going to be a long night. Maybe one where Kitty asked him to do a bunch of stuff just as payback for acting like a teenager.

Steve was back to being over 6 feet tall and not allergic to everything, so he was going for a walk in the November air without fourteen layers on.

"Hi, Kitty," he said, smiling as he sat down.

"Steve," Kitty greeted him, smiling. "Haven't seen you here in a while."

Which, not much reason to hang out in a bar when alcohol did nothing.

"I know, and I'm sorry," Steve said sincerely. "Life has been busy, you know?"

"It's why I don't get out much," she agreed. "What'll you have and how've you been?"

"Well, I met some Skrulls and that kept Tony and I pretty busy for a while," Steve said dryly. "Can I have a beer, please?"

"Yeah, that would keep a person busy," Kitty said, getting him a beer to hand over. "Things okay now?"

Steve nodded. "I'm allowed out of hiding again. Fury had some amends to make."

"I'm intrigued," she admitted.

"Turns out that he's known about the Skrulls for much longer than he was saying," Steve said.

"...Oh," she said, blinking. "And yet that's somehow unsurprising?"

If anyone would it'd probably be him?

"That's where Tony and I landed, too," Steve said, sipping his beer. "We stopped a Skrull thing that could've been very embarrassing to Secretary Ross and now we're square."

"And on the bright side, it's better for it to be very embarrassing rather than chaos." Optimism! "Good job."

Steve beamed at her. "Thank you. It's very nice to go out and not worry about being arrested."

"Things only a very select few of the population can say," Kitty teased.

Steve snorted. "I think my mother would've been happy if I hadn't joined those ranks, but she also wouldn't have been that surprised."

"That just shows she knew her kid," Kitty reasoned.

Steve grinned. "That she did. I had a very strong sense of justice from the very beginning. Got me beat up a lot."
