fandomtownies | Groovy Tunes; Thursday [12/05].

It was the first Thursday of the month, and, according to the grand schemes of previous months' Stewart, that meant it was time for another Open Mic Night at Groovy Tunes. He had almost thought about canceling, though; he'd been in sort of a funk this week and had only ~~oh so handwavily~~ somewhat unenthusiastically went around putting up flyers earlier this week to remind everyone, in case they forgot or just didn't care. Because he knew that if he did cancel this month, out of apathy or ennui or just general holiday blues, then it would be difficult to get himself to get it started again next month, and then the whole thing would fizzle before it even really got off the ground.

And people actually had shown up last month.

And if people didn't show up this month, he could just tell himself it was because everyone was busy with holiday bullshit.

So there really was no reason not to hold it this month, and so he was there at the shop getting it ready and dealing with customers in the day before setting things up on the stage for the performances that evening.

Of course Arden was showing up! Might still just watch but she was here!

With a sloth draped over her.

Graham was definitely squinting at that very familiar looking sloth in Arden's company.

"....Gray?" he guessed.

It could be Kamala! But Graham didn't really know Kamala, and he felt like he definitely knew this sloth.

"Gray," Arden agreed with a laugh. "On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...a sloth member of my family."

"Awww," said Graham with a chuckle, "I would say 'poor guy,' but I know he can't be all that disappointed to be living his best sloth life. Well, if you need any help taking care of him for the sloth-duration, just let me know! But nice thing about sloths is they're pretty easy-going, right?"

"And I have plenty of experience with Kamala," Arden said. "I wonder if I can get Midnight to make me a high shelf for him to be high up on."

"If not," Graham said, not really knowing enough about Midnight Manor to really know for sure one way or the other, "it seems like a pretty easy enough thing to get! They've got all sorts of cat towers that could probably be repurposed to that effect at the animal shelter, too! I see them all the time when I pick up supplies for Triumph, and the cats at least seem to love them! If you're gonna take care of him, I can bring over a few of his Squishmallows, too! I'm sure he won't want to be without those!"

"Oh yeah, if I could get some of his Squishmallows, and? And maybe a change of clothes for when he changes back. Lifesaver."

Graham snapped with both his hands and turned them into pointing fingers aimed Arden's way. "I got'chu, fam."

Where he picked that up was anyone's guess, really.

"I'll put it together tonight and bring it over tomorrow after I finish radio and before I head to class, maybe?"

"That sounds great," Arden said. "You're the best, Graham!"

Which was why he was getting a hug. Obviously.

A Graham who didn't love a Graham was clearly a Graham who had been bit by a gremlin or put under some kind of curse or spell! He was more than happy to receive that hug, squeezing Arden back while also being careful not to bother Gray too much when he did. "P-shaw," he said with a chuckle. "Just doing my proper friendly duty, to two of my favorite friends! You know I'm glad to help! Even if it wasn't my job!"

It was what knights did, Arden!
