Groovy Tunes; Thursday [04/03].

It was the first Thursday of the month, and once Stewart had gotten through all the usual business of keeping the shop running, an activity that he was actually finding the he somewhat enjoyed, he turned his attention to getting things set up for the monthly Open Mic night, and a part of him was wondering why he still even bothered with it. After all, it seemed like it was just the same three people who showed up every month, and while that was still three people, and there have been occasionally others coming to check it out or even perform, it all seemed a bit like he was trying to keep alive a dead horse through the power of his electro-dance remixes and Charlie's more folksy bent alone. Why did he bother? What was even the point?

But it was still something, right? And he did feel like he would regret it, if he'd called it off and stopped, and you never knew, and at least performing for a small (miniscule, microscopic) crowd was better than not performing at all...

So he was setting up the lights and testing the sound equipment and getting a nice loop of Armour Plastique playing in the background, something that still had a bop but was a little softer to reflect his more...erm, reflective mood, he guessed.

Groovy Tunes is open!

Aww, chin up, there,Stewart's narrative! Because Graham was bringing someone new to Open Mic Night this month!

That's right! Have no fear, Graham and Triumph were here!

Did that mean Graham and Triumph were also planning on performing finally, too? Maaaaaybe! Guess you'll just have to stick around and see!

"Triumph!" The noble steed would always get first snuggles from Belle, sorrynotsorry Graham.

"And Sir Knight!" Graham would always get a hug at the very least though. "Will you be onstage this evening?"

It was fine! Graham definitely agreed that Triumph snuggles took top priority! But he was pleased as punch when it was his turn to get a hug, too, and gave Belle a good squeeze.

And a tip of his with a "My lady" as they unembraced, then flashed her a grin. "And I don't know! Maybe! I guess you'll have to stick around and find out, huh?"

"I would never miss it," Belle assured him. "I'll be here until the very end so I don't miss anything of note."

"Good plan," Graham assured her wholeheartedly. "I have a pretty good feeling won't regret it!"

And he winked.

But he wasn't telling her, either way!

"How about you? Do you think you might grace us with a fantastic performance on the stage tonight?"

"I had considered reading something," Belle said, "or reciting. But the library was...exhausting today."

Method RP? What?

"Oh, no!" Graham gasped, brows lifting, with the proper amount of dramatic distress. "What happened? Or do you not want to talk about it? It's fine if you don't, I can just wait to hear about it on radio!"

Exactly the correct response, Graham.

"No one thing," Belle said, shaking her head. "Just the gremlins being very much themselves all day. Sometimes very loudly."

"Hmmph!" Graham huffed in ignignation on Belle's behalf, frowning deeply as he crossed his arms in front of himself and shook his head. "Those gremlins could really stand to learn a thing or two about proper library etiquette! Do you want me to come by next week? Give them a firm talking to?"

Well, there would be one tiny, possibly feathered, maybe furry problem with that, but of course Graham didn't know that yet.

"Oh, I would love that," Belle exclaimed. "So knightly of you, coming to my rescue. Although even just having some company would be lovely. I am always pleased to have your company, especially."

"Then that is what I shall do!" Graham vowed, sealing the plan with a hand over his heart and a proper bow, tipping his hat as he straightened, "my dear good lady! If anything, it could be good practice for my stern, Disapproving face for when I have guard duty. ItXs a shame we haven't gotten a moat here, otherwise I could warn them if they're not carefully, they can go swimmin' wif da moat monsters, see?"

"Perhaps we could petition the school board?" Belle mused. "Or perhaps send them to the sea monsters!"

There were totally sea monsters somewhere around the island, right?

Belle, being one of those same three people, was there once more.

She was not planning on performing though.

Maybe next month she'd do a dramatic reading?
pun_king: (hey! that's pretty great!)

Triumph (yes, Triumph, really!) needed a little bit of last minute encouragement, but he and Graham finally did take the stage.

"Hi, everyone!" he said into the mic, which gave him a little squeal of feedback, and he chuckled a little and backed off it of it. "Whoops! Sorry! Anyway, hi! As most of you know, I'm Sir Graham of Daventry, and I'm here tonight with my mighty trusty steeds Triumph to perform this month! I know you're used to hearing my mellifluous voice every Friday morning on the radio, but get ready to hear it right here and now at Groovy Tunes! Hit it, Triumph!"

On his cue, Triumph let out a pleased whistle of a chirrup to get them started, after which a beat and melody of squeaks and snorts set thr pace for Graham's song. He started in a low, heroic sort of pitch that he clearly needed to work for, though as the performance went on, it would raise more to his natural level as he got more into it.

And get into it he did! The song was based around some daring epic tales of knights he admired, so naturally, as he sang, he had to act out those grand deeds! They were built around a chorus that started out as "That's the knight I hope to be!" that grew into "That's the knight I'm going to be!" and finally, in recounting some of his own adventures now, ending it with a rousing "And that's the knight I am!"

Triumph finished it off with a trumpeter fanfare, and then they both took their exuberant bows.

Charlie knocked out a few pieces she'd been working on with the punk rock band she was currently playing with. Loud and raucous and great fun!
