Summer was, thankfully, not being exposed to Tino's recent Tinder match-ups, which she could only assume had to do with the fact that she would be far less polite or considerate about them, which then also meant that Summer was a little disappointed, because, man, she was really looking forward to digging into some of those matches.

So, instead, she was just going to criticize her own.

"Nature enthusiast? Yeah, okay, pretty sure that means just judging people for not rinsing out their recycling well enough. And you know all these dog enthusiasts have that and only that as their personality. And, seriously, though, why are there so many profile pics of guys just holding giant fish they presumably caught? Ohmygod, your profile pic is a fish pic, too, I bet, isn't it?"

It was worse.

It was denim-related.

"Goddammit! I should have known! Well, I will give you this, Tino. At least people know exactly what they're getting into."

"So what Skywalker-inflicted horrors did I miss this time?"

Jack knew better than to be anywhere near the island on Wednesday before Caritas time, thank you.

"Pretty standard first-day-of-shenanigans relay race around the island thing," Summer dutifully reported. "Banana shirts and gorilla ones. I kind of hate that I'm already wondering who I can snag a banana one from."

Then she grinned at him faintly.

"You can't tell me you're going to be here for the summer and also skip out on shenanigans! Come on."

"I am not willingly putting myself in the line of fire of that sociopath," Jack retorted. "--Can I get a yuzu soda?-- I've known him for too long. The only way I'd ever stop by for shenanigans is if there's an opportunity to dunk his stupid head in some icy water."

"Might have to wait for the homecoming dunk tanks to scratch that particular itch, unfortunately," Summer said with a sympathetic note, smiling faintly as she dutifully got Jack his soda. "Although now I really want a week based around that one guy's batshit morning routine that involves dipping his face in a specifical brand of ice water about a gazillion times."

"I've dunked him at homecoming too many times, it's lost its shine."

No, really, he'd known Anakin too long.

"Maybe," Summer suggested, "the way to regain that surprise is hidden within one of the weekly shenanigans. Who knows what new ways to get back at him might arise? It gets pretty gross, I'm sure you can find some way to turn it again him.

"Or," the next offer came with a dramatic pause and a smirk, "you can just admit that you're a curmudgeony old man too stuck in his ways to challenge himself."

A beat.

"Which i realize is exactly what you're pretty much already saying," she allowed, "but I just wanted to say it, too."

"Oh, no, this is nothing about my ways," Jack said cheerfully, reaching for his soda. "This is about me and Skywalker, and a history you really do not want to dig back up again."

He took a sip.

"I dyed his hair once. Pink? I think?"

"Jack," said Summer, very firmly, closing her eyes for a moment and breathing as if needing to keep herself very calm. "I know you know that by just saying I wouldn't want to dig it up is exactly the thing to say to make me want to dig it up, and, for the love of god and Sabrina Carpenter, please tell me there are pictures of this somewhere, or are you going to tell me this was so far back, cameras weren't even invented yet?"

"I don't know why I should give you pictures when you're trying to push me into danger's way by pressuring me go to Skywalker's weekly torture circus," Jack mused, bringing his soda up for another sip.

"If you can provide pictures," Summer vowed, "I swear on my own goddamn spaceship that not another word about you participating in summer shenanigans will ever pass my lips again. Copies, though. It doesn't count if you just show me. I need that shit in my back pocket."

"I'll take this deal under consideration," Jack said. He tilted his head. "You know, I think I also kicked him in the balls once..."

No, really, if he signed up for shenanigans Anakin would find a way to bury him at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

"I love you," Summer declared, "and that is quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard."

Plus, she had a giant robot ferret under the sea now! She could totally rescue him down there.

"You should write a song about that."

Said ironically if it turned out that he actually already did, lulz.
