Summer was, thankfully, not being exposed to Tino's recent Tinder match-ups, which she could only assume had to do with the fact that she would be far less polite or considerate about them, which then also meant that Summer was a little disappointed, because, man, she was really looking forward to digging into some of those matches.

So, instead, she was just going to criticize her own.

"Nature enthusiast? Yeah, okay, pretty sure that means just judging people for not rinsing out their recycling well enough. And you know all these dog enthusiasts have that and only that as their personality. And, seriously, though, why are there so many profile pics of guys just holding giant fish they presumably caught? Ohmygod, your profile pic is a fish pic, too, I bet, isn't it?"

It was worse.

It was denim-related.

"Goddammit! I should have known! Well, I will give you this, Tino. At least people know exactly what they're getting into."

No hesitation or stumbling over what to say. Definitely progress, as far as Summer was concerned. She was definitely going to take it and meet it with a pleased sort of smile.

"Hi, Stark," she said. "Still doing the usual?"

Was she already setting down the shots anyway? Duh. Of course she was.

It wasn't like she was being serious about it! She was still respecting the grieving period! It was just for entertainment!

Maybe he could benefit from a little entertainment of that vein himself!

Summer grinned, as she was just getting around to setting down the hot dog shot just as Stark had said that, and then went to focus on making his cocktail. "I did," she confirmed, a little proudly, with a nod, and she would have said more about it, if not for timing. "For now. How did your class go?"

Alas, Stark was not in the mood for such entertainments. Maybe he'd just become a monk.

He pushed the hot dog shot away, a little, and picked up the multi colored one.

"I stayed inside earlier. Just in case."

He wasn't in the mood for shenanigans either.

"Class was fine. Not many people. But that might make it easier. I'm not sure."

"Smart," Summer nodded, taking a pause on her cocktail making (it was a complicated one this week!) to nudge the hot dog shot closer again before continuing. "I still like to hedge my bets and watch. Plus, I can see who does participate and decide if I want to bring back free participation shots. They kind of fell off, but sometimes these things come in waves, you know?

"But I'm glad your class was okay! Better than not fine,for sure."

"Oh, no," said Summer. "It's probably much worse than that. Are you familiar with a...well, I guess you could call it a sausage, but maybe meat tube would be more accurate, called a frankfurter?"

Did Summer get to teach you about hot dogs, Percy?

She should not be this excited to teach anyone about hot dogs, Percy.

No one should be excited about teaching Percy about hot dogs.

"I'm familiar with sausages," Percy replied and was so grateful that Scanlan was not stuck her in this town with him. The amount of jokes he would hear right now just rom the mention of meat tube would be endless. "Though I've never heard the term frankfurter. However if the meat has anything to do with canines I may have to draw a line."

"It doesn't," Summer assured him, "although that does raise an interesting question about why we consider some animal meat acceptable but others disgusting, but I digress. Legend has it that most hot dogs are instead made up of whatever leftover that wouldn't be fit to be considered meat otherwise. I'll leave it up to you to determine if that's better or worse than dog meat."

"Well, I do come from a world where a certain type of alcohol is brewed from the bile of a rather strange creature, so I shouldn't throw stones at those who consider certain animals delicious," Percy said, thinking over what Summer mentioned. "However after having this conversation I'll partake of anything but the hot dog gelatin beverage."

She also considered her specials board thoughtfully.

"They're all kind of on the sweeter side, so I guess I should ask how sweet I'd your sweet tooth right now?"

Then she grinned at him faintly.

"You can't tell me you're going to be here for the summer and also skip out on shenanigans! Come on."

"Although now I really want a week based around that one guy's batshit morning routine that involves dipping his face in a specifical brand of ice water about a gazillion times."

"Maybe," Summer suggested, "the way to regain that surprise is hidden within one of the weekly shenanigans. Who knows what new ways to get back at him might arise? It gets pretty gross, I'm sure you can find some way to turn it again him.

"Or," the next offer came with a dramatic pause and a smirk, "you can just admit that you're a curmudgeony old man too stuck in his ways to challenge himself."

"Which i realize is exactly what you're pretty much already saying," she allowed, "but I just wanted to say it, too."
