When Tino saw what Summer had put together for this week's specials, he'd expressed a disappointment that he hadn't known about it, because if he had he would have helped by decorating the bar with butterflies to go along with the theme.

"You mean, like, cardboard decorative ones, don't you, Tino?" Summer asked, and all of a sudden, Tino didn't seem to be able to hear her. "Don't you??? I swear to god, Tino, if you fill this bar up with actual butterflies, I am going to totally lose my shit, because I know for a fact you are not getting them through ethical means!"

Okay, she didn't know that for a fact, but Tino's continued silence on the matter spoke volumes.

Well, Stewart did have a different song in mind to do for karaoke that evening, but when he saw that Summer was doing a theme with her specials, he decided to lean less into being impressive with what he could offer vocally and be more impressive with his ability to stay on topic.

Wings of a Butterfly did tap into a more primal part of the musical awakening of his youth, after all, and a had a chorus that he could pour just slightly too much into to be comfortable for the audience.

"I was feeling creative and wanted to challenge myself this morning," Summer stated proudly, with a confident little lift of her chin. "And they look absolutely stun-ning on Insta, too!"

She then turned that beaming smile on Rey. "Wanna try one? More than one? It's a pretty hard choice to make."

A pause.

"I mean, unless you decide to lean into a certain one for color theme reasons, or something like that."

"I think I want to try the monarch," she said slowly. "And it's lightsaber colored."

"One monarch for the absolute queen you are!" Summer agreed cheerfully as she got one of those for Rey and set it in front of her. "Although they're all kind of lightsaber colored, aren't they? Except I guess the peacock one, since that's a bunch of colors, but don't they come in, like, a variety of colors?"

This was reminding her that she did have those crystals she'd gotten during one of Lana's classes that needed to be put to good use. She knew lightsabers were tied to a lot of Jedi shit, but, like, there were probably ways to get around that if you were coming at it from a different dimension, right?

A call to a certain supergenius ex might be in order...

"Mine is yellow, at least. And I've heard of five, but two aren't naturally occurring, as far as I know," Rey explained. "Your peacock is actually more colorful, I think."

"Oh, is this going to be a thing now?" Summer had to ask, her disappointment with the fact that Stewart arrived empty-handed about on even keel with the fact that Stewart was even there at all.

Thank all the grease from earlier today, but that made Stewart's somewhat malicious smirk slide even broader. "Perhaps," he said. "After all, isn't this one of the better nights to come visit the local watering holes? I just figured it would be a good way to integrate myself better into the community as a whole."

His chin quirked toward the specials board.

"I'll take one of those butterfly gins, barkeep."

Oh, that was so getting a lift of Summer's eyebrow. "Barkeep?" she repeated, not sure if she should feel incredulous about this or just sad for Stewart, and she shook her head. "And that's really what you want? The bright purple butterfly gin cocktail?"

"Would you prefer tavern wench?" Stewart challenged, knowing full well that she (probably!) wouldn't. "And, yes, it is. Maybe even one of the jello shots. Blueberry. I assure you, my masculinity is not nearly so fragile that it would shatter into pieces at the hands of a bright and colorful fun summer drink."

Plus, a lot of beer just tasted really bad, Summer. Though he could probably have a Puppers.

(There was a non-zero chance that Summer might have been conceived to Crazy Town. How was that for a thought exercise in awfulness?)

"But I might need to remember that if I ever need to clear your from a room. How's it going, Jack? Looks like things went well with youth show this weekend."

Jack let out a little laugh. "Yeah, and thanks to Lana's contributions, we moved a lot of merch, too," he said.

He wasn't allowed to make stupid jokes about Lana's melons anymore. Sad, sad day.

"You're watching the TikTok stuff, right?" he added. Totally casually. "What've you been seeing out there?"

Summer would like to argue that that emphasis probably still counted as making a joke anyway.

"I am watching the TikTok stuff," she confirmed with a nod. "And what I'm seeing out there is it totally screwing with my algorithm."

In case you had any doubts about how much she cared, Rand, just look at the schizophrenic state of her FYP.

Forget that some of it was being managed through a few dummy accounts to boost shit a little more, too.

Stark came in at the beginning of the evening, holding a container, and walked to the bar.

"I'm not staying long," he said. "But I thought you'd like to try these." He set the container down, revealing 6 cupcakes.

"And I wanted... to apologize. For last week."

The 'not staying long' lifted Summer's eyebrow rows with genuine surprise, and then lowered them again with a little bit of concern, and then she considered thr cupcakes.

"Do you have plans?" she asked. Because, like, big if true.

"And you don't have to apologize, Stark. I mean, I am definitely still taking these cupcakes, these look amazing, but, like, you're fine. It's no big deal."

None of them were even questionable! Unless you just assumed she'd put actually butterflies in them.

I just think it's interesting that I complain a lot about not having anywhere to go with canon because of structural arrested development, and apparently, we're getting tons of Older Summer material in the newest episode.........
