Caritas- Saturday night after 8:15 pm

The dates were over, the glitter was still there, the glitter lived with you now, and the night was still young. So maybe people wanted to hang at the bar for a little while. Maybe you wanted to take the date further, or maybe you just wanted to gossip or catch up with people you weren't matched with!

Either way the specials still told a story.

"Basically. But the Sith wasn't killed, just thwarted," Jaina said. "Threat's still out there."

"How much of your Empire is loyal to them?" Lana asked.

"To the Sith? Our people don't know about them, aside from certain people on the Moff Council that got very, very fired," she said. "Your average person has no idea what a Sith is."

"Not even after two Empires led by them?" Lana asked. She shook her head. "Never mind. A greedy politician is a greedy politician no matter their philosophy, I suppose; most people don't need to more than that. So now you have a rogue Sith and some followers to worry about, so you went into hiding? Or was that before?"

"Not into hiding. The exact opposite, in fact. We moved to the seat of government on Bastion," she said. "We are very public.

"Also there's a planet of Sith that pops up to cause trouble at points."

Her issues with the Sith were not unfounded.

"I thought part of the current stupidity of your Sith was that they only believed in two of them at any time?" Lana said.

Honestly, so stupid. Even if it was helpful to the people fighting them.

"Two separate things. An Order of Sith took over a planet a couple millennia ago, now the descendants are Sith, culturally," Jaina explained. And shout out to Vestara, the reason Jaina could be wary of Lana but in a reasonable way. "The Rule of Two Sith chose it."

"Ah, so only one group has the idiotic philosophy," Lana said cheerfully.

"Which planet did they take over?" She asked, curious.

"Kesh," Jaina said. "Do you know it?"

Lana shook her head. "It doesn't ring a bell. When you say they're Sith culturally, do you mean Sith Force philosophy or purebred Sith culture?"

"I think purebred Sith culture, but I wasn't really in a position to listen that hard," Jaina admitted.

Lana nodded. "It's possible they broke from the Empire - my Empire - long ago, then. They'd be a fascinating anthropological study."

Lana, your nerd was showing.

"Might be worth researching. They may even pre-date you," Jaina said.

"They would have to," Lana agreed. She laughed and shook her head. "We seem to have gotten off-topic, though. You were talking about when you left the order."

"There's not much else to it," she said. "It's hard to do Jedi things while leading a government. Caused a lot of hurt feelings. Now things are uneasy but workable."

"Why would it be difficult?" Lana asked. "Surely leading a government lends itself well to helping people. Or at least directing others to. And your private time is your own, for meditation and learning."

That was what the Jedi insisted they were all about, right?

"Politics. The Jedi are aligned with a different government. And it would Say Something to have the empress of another one breaking up your smuggling ring with a lightsaber," she said.

It'd been nine years. She got it now. She'd still been pissed for a long time.

"Yes, I imagine the hands-on missions would be out of the question," Lana agreed. "But why not found another temple? Most of the Jedi Council in my time seemed to deal with politics more than field missions."

She shrugged. "Perhaps I'm simply not understanding. But if you're Jedi, you don't stop being Jedi because you're away from the main temple, any more than I stopped being Sith the moment I left the Empire."

"We started an Imperial offshoot. Principles of the Jedi, but a different structure," Jaina said. "And I'll always be a Jedi no matter what I do. Even if I'm not working with them."

Lana nodded. "That makes more sense. Have you changed your views at all since striking out on your own?" she asked curiously.
