Tino had apparently listened to radio, because he was on a pumpkin spice kick. If the maple adventures had been interesting, pumpkin spice whiskey lemonade wasn't quiiiite the same thing? Especially when he was that heavy on the syrup. Kitty was all for embracing your inner basic bitch but hoo boy.

He'd tried putting pumpkin spice margaritas as a special but she was erasing that from the board every time he wrote it on there. Yes, there had been multiple attempts.

"Hey, Kitty!" Steve said with a bright smile as he came in. "Are you out of one of the specials already?"

"You don't want it!" Kitty said before Tino could do anything.

"That bad, huh?" Steve replied with a grin. "Tino, what'd you do, pal?"

"Pumpkin spice margaritas," Kitty said.

Steve made a face. "Tino, no."

"It pumpkin syrup in what's normally an everyday margarita."

"Tino, no," Steve repeated.

"He's going to try to put pumpkin spice in everything," she warned, and then said, "We do actually have a pumpkin beer that's pretty good but that's different."

"If I try one, will that be enough pumpkin appeasement?" Steve asked.

"It will," Kitty said with a pointed tone that was directed entirely at Tino as she got the beer.

Which she was weirdly protective over until it was directly in front of Steve, like she was still expecting Tino to do something.

"Thank you very much," Steve said because he was a polite sort of fellow. "Cheers."

"Cheers," she said, with nothing to toast. "Did you think this might be the kind of experience you'd be getting when you walked in?"

"If I say it's a lot more normal than I feared, is something strange going to happen?"

"I hope not, but now I'm wondering what you were fearing," she admitted.

"Tino swinging from the ceiling trying to squirt pumpkin sugar into my beer?"

That was very specific, Steve.

"What actually happened is much easier than that," Kitty said. "Also don't give him ideas."

"I apologize," Steve said with a laugh. "I don't know if the ceiling could hold him."

She looked up toward the ceiling. "He'd be ripping out the floor of his own home so maybe that'd be a deterrent..."

"He doesn't strike me as a person who thinks through consequences in advance," Steve admitted.

"He's not," she said with a long, long-suffering sigh. "He's really not."
