Caritas - Open [6/27]

Veronica was still running on nerves and caffeine when she got to work. She was grateful to see Tino was back from wherever he'd been, though he snorted at her when she asked if he'd had a nice vacation.

Aaron hadn't appeared to her again since Anakin chased him off. She was hoping that was a good sign, even though Piper hadn't been able to help her.

Phoebe showed up at Carita's, tugging Lana inside with her. After what Lana had told her about the ghost and what he wanted her to do, she wasn't about to leave her BFF's side for a good while.

Caritas was public and if Lana was in public, she couldn't be hurt... right?

Too bad Phoebe didn't understand she was walking into a bad place for an empath to be right now.

Lana followed Phoebe in, still feeling blank and numb, but realizing that Pheobe's probably right about her not being alone.

Phoebe smiled at Lana reassuringly and sat down at the bar. "Safety in numbers."

Lana nodded, then swallowed hard as Whitney sidled up next to her to whisper in her ear.

How many of them do you think will be dead in another year because of your curse, huh?

Phoebe felt the shift in Lana and looked at her in concern. "Is he here?"

Lana nodded, not able to speak with him so close.

She already almost died, he said. They're lucky you didn't go along to rescue her. Who knows how many of them would have come back then.

"Talk to me, Lana," she said softly. "What did he say this time?"

Tim waved and smiled at them.

Phoebe waved at Tim with worry in her eyes.

Tim noticed. "Something wrong?"

Phoebe bit her lip. She trusted Tim... but it wasn't her story to tell. "Just some peculiarness going on in Fandom," she finally said.

"Anything a Dread and Puissant Champion of the Fey can do to help?" Tim asked with a self deprecating smirk.

"Know anything about ghosts?"

Clark looked at Lana with a concerned smile. "Hello Lana."

Lana nodded at him, looking even worse than she had yesterday.

Whitney shifted his attention to him. "God, another Clark? What the hell is it with you and him?"

Clark's eyes narrowed. "he came back didn't he." he said.

Lana nodded, swallowing hard. "He's here now. And he was always jealous of my Clark."

Clark looked around, but he didn't expect to see anything. He didn't actually know for sure whether or not the boy she was seeing was real, but either way it didnt' matter just now. Having someone tangible to talk to might help.

"anything i can do to help, I'm here." he offered. "is he, is he talking to you? Or just glaring balefully?"

And where was chloe? He'd talked to her earlier. lana could probably use all the friends she could get right now.

"A little of both," Lana admitted. "He... he's trying to convince me that everything would be better if I... went with him."

Cally waved to Phoebe. "Hello," she said. She was actually smiling pretty happily.

Phoebe smiled back and waved. "Hiya Cally."

"How you doing?" Cally asked. "Haven't talked with you in ages."

Phoebe smiled. "I'm doing okay, the workshops and my job at the hotel have kept me pretty busy." She glanced over at Lana worriedly and then looked back at Cally. "How are you doing?"

"Better than ever," Cally said. "Well, okay, that's probably a bit of lie. But I'm doing really well, all things considered."

Phoebe nodded. "I'm glad you're doing well, I really am."
