Veronica was still running on nerves and caffeine when she got to work. She was grateful to see Tino was back from wherever he'd been, though he snorted at her when she asked if he'd had a nice vacation.

Aaron hadn't appeared to her again since Anakin chased him off. She was hoping that was a good sign, even though Piper hadn't been able to help her.

Artie opened his mouth to answer cheerfully. "I have no idea."

She leaned over the bar until she was near eye-level with Mortimer.

"Mortimer," she said, "You must try very hard to get your memory back. Your friend, Artie, is quite worried about you."

Seras felt her heart go out to the tiny, forlorn beetle.

"Poor thing," she said, "What would cheer you up?"

Music drifted over to her from the zombi band. Seras perked up.

"Shall I sing for you?"
