Empire Records; Monday [ 10/02 ]

Chad was busy reorganizing the CDs back to their alphabetical order, trying to figure out exactly how they kept getting switched around. He didn't mind, though, humming along to the Zeppelin he was playing. He was in a good mood, and it gave him something to do that seemed somewhat productive.

After a rousing fight with Setsuna soon to be... he wanted to go buy a new CD. He only has two. So he walks into Empire's and is surprised to see Chad. "Oh... You work here?"

Chad looked up from where he was reorganizing the 'M' section. "Uhhhh, yeah," he said, with a slight frown. "Haven't I mentioned that to you?" He could have sworn he's mentioned it to practically about everyone.

He may have forgotten. He's sort of an idiot. But he shakes his head, he'd rather not look stupid.

"Oh." Chad found it odd that he hadn't mentioned it to Ranma, but oh well. Ranma's surprise at seeing him there also meant that he hadn't come in to see him, and that put a little damper on his mood as well. "What'ya need?"

"A new CD." Music makes him think of Chad~!

"Anything in particular?"

"Nah... You can pick for me."

((Maybe some Ben Folds. That's what I'm listening to it right now.))

Hmmm, quite a responsibility. Chad took music choosing very seriously. But there was so much that he didn't know where to start; what better place to start here with the M's, where he was working. He thoughtfully flipped through the rack, stopping when he noticed yet another CD that was in a section it shouldn't have been. Ben Folds belonged in B. Possibly F. Definately not M.

"Try this one?" he offered it to Ranma. This way, he wouldn't have to go back to the other section to put it back and, besides, Ranma might like it.

Okay, so his music choosing wasn't that serious.

He took it and shruged. "Thanks..." He almost goes to the register to pay and leave. Though... he stops and hops up to sit on the counter. "Mind if I hang around for a bit?"

Chad was a little slower getting from the CD rack to the counter. "Uh, of course not. Pretty slow day, anyway. You want me to ring that up for you now?"

"If you want. I'm not in a hurry." That's a happier smile than usual.

Chad went ahead and rang it up now, to get it out of the way. "You seem like you're in a good mood," he observed as he punched the appropriate numbers into the register, then mumbled off the price. He gave Ranma a discount.

He doesn't really notice said discount. He will when he looks at the price then the recipt later though. Ranma slides him the money and nods. "Yeah, I sparred with Setsuna today."

"Yeah?" Chad slipped the money into the drawer, closed in with his hip. "Who won?"

"Well it was more just dodging practice. I can't fight a girl."

"That's noble of you," Chad said, with a nod of approval. "How'd you do?"

"I only got hit once." He said proudly. "It was weird though. She must have hit something weird. I felt tingly for a minute." His vocabulary isn't that great in ANY language...

Chad is trying to keep his mind off too many possibilities, really he is. "Sensitive spot, maybe? You're not ticklish, are you?"

Ugh. Stop saying things like that, Yasutora...because then you start thinking about things like that.

Ranma looks at him blankly for a moment. No. He didn't DARE give away the slightest HINT that he was. Chad is the type who'd exploit it... Espcially with him conviently sitting on the counter like this. "It wasn't like that."

Thank God for his lack of expressions, hiding Chad's smirk so well. Whenever someone didn't directly answer a question like 'are you ticklish?,' it meant that they were. He'd save that for later. Maybe. Hopefully. Probably never get a chance, too, actually...Pity.

"But you only got hit once? That's pretty impressive."

"Fighting's what I'm good at. If I couldn't boast about that then I'd really be a useless waste of space." He looks fairly serious. Though Chad might take it as degrading humor or just plain... Ranma being down on himself. Either way.

He tosses his ponytail nonchalantly over his shoulder. "It was fun though."

"If you'd be just a useless waste of space, then who would sit on the counter and keep me company?"

"I'm sure there's better company out there than me." He smirks a bit. This time he seems a lot more kidding. But you never know.

"Maybe. But they're not here right now." Chad went to lean on the counter, but stopped himself just before his elbows hit its surface. He remembered how it sometimes groaned when he did that; he'd hate to see what would happen with his weight and Ranma's on it. So he straightened, and, true to his awkward nature, just kind of stood there for a bit. Maybe he should find something to do to make it look like he was still working.

"Though.. I think I found something else I'm good at." He notes off handly, he's trying to be entertaining. That's sorta part of the "keeping company" thing...
