Caritas - Saturday evening

Tino was being suspiciously nice to GOB this evening. He even prepared a drink for GOB for when he walked into the bar. "A banana daiquiri?" GOB asked suspiciously. "Thanks." It didn't smell poisoned. It didn't taste poisoned. It seemed like Tino was being randomly kind tonight.

"Seriously, this is pretty good. I didn't know you could make them this gooooooooooo--"

GOB slipped on a banana peel and hit his head on the ground. Tino dragged him to the back room and locked it.

Tonight was Shirtless Saturday at Caritas.

[OOC: I will likely not be around much tonight, therefore GOB is passed out in the back room. Please mod Tino. Drinks are half-price if you're not wearing a shirt, but this IS a community post. Ladies, please wear bras. Everyone, please keep things clean. Half-naked, yes, but clean. Don't make me make an admin complaint about myself.]

"It is always my pleasure to be helpful, you know that."

"I do. It's one of the things I like so much about you. Would you like to help me get drunk?"

"I would be delighted." Walter waved Tino over to set up another rum and coke and another gin gimlet. He wasn't done with his drink, but he would be, and that was the important part.

"Let's not get so drunk that we forget to put our shirts back on before leaving here."

"I'm pretty sure I'd remember as soon as I got outside. It's not warm out."

We'd have to cling to each other for warmth," Walter said with a grin. "Which has a certain appeal, but I know you're not fond of the cold at all."

Nadia shuddered. "Not even a little. I think I actually hate it more now."

Walter leaned over to kiss her non-braced shoulder and chuckled. "I think I have to visit Argentina one of these days to better understand why you are so intolerant of the cold.

"Well, for one thing, it should be summer right now. I mean, Buenos Aires isn't that close to the equator, but it's so much nicer when it's warm out."

"It's December. It should be cold. You can't sit around a crackling fire when it's summer out, and crackling fires are part of Christmas."

"The only crackling fires we get on Christmas are if you accidentally set the tree on fire."

"We could travel the world. Follow the summers. Except for Christmas, where we'd go someplace not hot."

Nadia nodded absently, since she was busy remembering the time she had accidentally set fire to the tree in the orphanage.

". . . But then how will we drink our Christmas iced tea?" she asked, when she'd caught up with what he'd said.

"Christmas iced... " Walter blinked at the massive wrongness of that idea. "Uh... you'll sit very close to the roaring fire."

"Okay, but we're still leaving hay and water out for the Magi."

Walter nodded with the exaggerated seriousness of those who have been enjoying their alcohol. "How could I argue with that? Hay and water for the Magi. Christmas crackers and stockings and roasted chestnuts and iced tea."

"And cotton on the tree. . . . wet cotton." If he was insisting on roaring fires, Nadia was not going to be responsible for another treeicide.

"Wet cotton...? Is that an Argentine Christmas tradition?" But he was nodding anyway. Anything she wanted.

"Cotton to make it LOOK like snow without it being cold. And wet to stop forest fires."

...

They made fake snow and she wanted it hot?

South Americans were odd.

"Right. Wet cotton, roaring fire, iced tea, Christmas crackers, and hay and water for the Magi. I think we can have a bi-hemispherical holiday."

". . . We should switch on and off. One year hot, one year cold."

Walter leaned in to rub his nose against hers. "Alright. We can do that." He knew it presupposed that they'd be spending years together, which was almost definitely premature at their ages, but he didn't really mind. "But our first one will have to be cold because we're here."

"Alas." Hey, he's the one who had started it, talking about chasing summers. Summers. Plural. "I guess I'll just have to snuggle my hot butler a lot to cope."

Walter whispered conspiratorially, "You know, I think your hot butler would like that quite a lot."

Cold weather was much better for that sort of snuggling. He hoped she'd figure that out before he had to do too many Argentine summers.

Only if they could snuggle all the time. She whispered back: "Good, because I think it's kinda cold out tonight, too."

"Then I will have to keep you warm while we walk back to the dorms and give you a proper kiss goodnight to keep you warm until you get to bed."
