Caritas, Saturday Evening

Ellen went into work a little late, having been on the phone half the day, talking Ash through clean-up on a minor fire. He was okay (and Ellen had some suspicions on how he'd managed to start a fire in his room, of all places), but she felt better that he'd called her immediately, even if she was already feeling tired just from hearing him so anxious.

In honor of the "occasion", she put up a sign as she opened the bar.

Prairie Fires
1/2 Off
(water on tap for easy extinguishing)

[ooc: okay, errand popped up that cannot wait, will be back asap.]

"Okay, that's really handy. So to speak." Parker staggered into the washroom, filled a cup of water, and pulled aspirin out of her purse. "I think you're going to need these tomorrow. Even more than I will."

"No hangover. Remember? Found that out the last time." Of course remembering the last time started yet another round of tears. Isabel curled up on her bed and closed her eyes, ready to wallow until she fell asleep.

"Right. Forgot." Parker took the drugs instead, and drank the water, then put them down, and stroked Isabel's hair. "Hey. I'm sorry it hurts."

"Not your fault. Not his fault," she mumbled. "Has to be. Even if we miss him." Booze and emotion had her pretty tired. Within minutes her breathing even out as she fell asleep.

Parker patted her on the head, then slowly made her way out of the cabin toward Pixie.

Half-way there, she stopped. Sat down on the bench where she and Jack had talked almost a year ago. And found her star in the sky, the one he named after her.

If she was crying, at least there was no one around to see.
