Main Ballroom, The Arms Hotel, Monday evening

Everything was set for Mary's birthday party. The ballroom was filled with enough tables for everyone to sit down for dinner. There was a bar set up in the corner of the room and in the opposite corner was a table with a very large 5-tier birthday cake, which Gunther currently had two of his assistants guarding. Just in case Wolfgang Puck showed up to exact revenge for Gunther destroying the Deline wedding cake last year.

The room was lit with candles that gave everything a soft glow and every table had an arrangement of white roses that matched with the ivory tablecloths. If it happened to look similar to the reception Mary had planned last year for Delinda Deline's wedding, that was just a coincidence. The theme tonight was "Everything Old Is New Again" and the wait staff were dressed as if they came straight from Las Vegas circa 1962, complete with fedora hats for the men and beehive hairdos for the women. Even Mary was wearing a vintage dress. The newly-installed state of the art sound system would be playing the best hits of the Rat Pack all evening and there was a dance floor set up at the far end of the room.

[Everyone is invited, even if you didn't hear from Mary. Up early because I'm having connection problems. OCD coming is up!.]

Eve was never one to pass up a party, and this one was no different. So what if she didn't know the birthday girl? And so what if she was a student? Details, details.

Though since she didn't know the birthday girl, she figured it appropriate to go and greet her first. Just so she wasn't just some strange girl wandering around Mary's party.

Emma was stopping by before opening Caritas. The alcohol yearning students would just have to wait. She gave Mary a smile. "I must say, you're looking very young today."

While Roy hadn't been aware of any themes, his costume did look vintage enough as that was just Amestrian fashion. He took a moment to take in the decorations and after a detour at the gifts table, he made his way over to Mary.

"Happy birthday," he greeted her warmly.

Obviously Aiden was going to show up for this one. She even dressed up a bit, because how many chances did she really have to do that around here.

She immediately headed over to Mary with a big grin. "Hey there, Birthday girl," she greeted cheerfully.

It would just be rude if Turtle didn't show up after Mary had brought her business and personally invited, but she did have a little bit of a worry that it would be like those boring old-people adult parties her mother always threw and she hated old-people adult parties.

"Happy birthday, Miss Connell!" she gave the birthday girl a bright smile.

Gabriel wasn't really the mingling type. He prefered threatening people into giving him the information he needed, but that wasn't really an option right now. Hence he was standing around looking restless.

Mary had forgotten to warn the staff that there might be some students attending the party, so they aren't checking IDs today.

"Everything Old Is New Again" is a third season episode of Las Vegas where Danny has this flashback of what life would be like if Ed Deline was a mob boss running a Vegas casino in the '60s. In the flashback, Mary is the manager of the hotel's coffee shop and she's being harrassed by a former employee. Ed tels the boys to bring the guy in for "a talk" which takes place at night in the desert. With Sinatra playing the in the background, Ed tells the guy to look at the empty south end of the Strip and imagine what they could build there, and then he shoots Mary's stalker in the back. Danny helps him dump the body.

Fast forward to the end of the next season and Mary is being harrassed by her father after she testifies against him, so she, Ed and Danny wait for him in the parking lot of a local bar. All are carrying guns. Shots ring out and... who did it?
