Anakin was in a fantastic mood this evening.

This had absolutely nothing to do with alum who may or may not be arriving tomorrow.

He was out in the park with a ball and hyperactive, flying vampire puppy.

You might have to look twice. Anakin Skywalker was actually laughing.

Creepy.

Vladdie yelped and hid in Anakin's robe.

Anakin stared down. "...hello?"

She growled a friendly 'hello', at least she hoped it looked friendly and grinned. Unfortunately it meant she was baring really sharp and scary fangs.

"Vladdie, down," Anakin said as the puppy tried to climb up Anakin's hair. "She's not a real wolf."

He smiled. "Fandom weirdness, right?"

Wolf-Rose nodded and tried to roll her eyes, apparently that's harder said than done when one was lupine. Instead she nodded to the puppies direction and asked, "Is that an alien dog?"

Or what actually came out was: "IYANADGWHOOO?"

"This is Vladdie," he told the wolf. "He used to be my friend Rory's, but vampire puppies don't do so well at Yale, do they, pal?"

He ruffled the back of the puppy's neck.

Vampire puppies! That was fascinating! Rose's tail swished to one side. Wolf-Rose approached the puppy and was about to give it a head nudge when--

*pop*

Rose found herself forehead to forehead with the puppy. "Well, this is awkward."

Vladdie flew backwards and hovered off the ground, yipping.

What a great trick! Do it again! Again!

Anakin chuckled. "Hello."

Rose got up, red as a tomato, "Hello." She looked at the hovering puppy, "Sorry 'bout that."

Anakin waved it off. "Not your doing. Vladdie, this is Rose."

"Hello, Vladdie," Rose said, "aren't you a cute little fellow?"

Vladdie totally agreed. He went over to see if New Friend, Yay! would pet him.

"He keeps me busy," Anakin admitted.

Rose happily petted Vladdie, "He's good company and so bouncy. Bet he can turn any frown upside down, don't you, Vladdie boy?"

"He does make it hard to be miserable," Anakin said. "I think that was part of Rory's plan."

"Your Rory's smart," Rose said in approving tone, "its a good thing the myth about wolves and vampires aren't true, or else he'd have gone snarling at me earlier." She glanced up at Anakin, "D'you know why that happened by the way? I was just walking 'round the park minding my own business, when--"

*pop*

And there was Wolf Rose again but this lasted for only a second.

Rose shook her head, dazed, "Whoa, that was strange."

"I think the Dean said it was just a random Fandom thing this morning," Anakin said, frowning. "If it doesn't wear off by tomorrow, I'd say head to the clinic."

"Cross fingers then," Rose said, not bothered, "so, how is Rory? Any news from University?"

"She'll be here tomorrow," Anakin replied, beaming.

"That's fantastic!" Rose said, grinning, "and look at you beaming like Father Christmas!"

"Father Christmas beams?" Anakin replied, looking confused. "The one here glared and threw detention slips."

"It's an expression meanin' you look happy and, yeah, traditionally Father Christmas is a happy guy." Rose frowned, "D'you mean to say you actually had a Santa Claus in Fandom. Real live, christmas gift giving Claus? Or is this just a guy in a suit?"

"It was the old principal dressed up. With a miniature giraffe." Anakin shrugged. "I don't understand this planet sometimes."

"Oh go on, your planet must have had traditions where people dressed up for fun, y'know in costumes, make-up and such? I've been to other planets I know for a fact some of them have things like that."

Anakin had not exactly been in a position to participate in festivals on Tatooine.

"I've been to dozens of planets and done very, very strange things in the name of tradition, yeah," he said. "I was stripped to the waist and painted blue once."

Rose laughed at that image, "Oh, that must've been fantastic, any pictures?"
